    Night Nappies

    A question...

my 4 yr old son has been TT since he was 23 months and never looked back but still won't give up the night nappies.. We tried a few months back when our 2 yr old son TT and was going dry over night so we figured it was time but we had a wet bed everynight and decided to leave it a bit longer...

Well it is now time. I told both boys that when the nappies ran out I was not going to buy anymore and tonight is the night.. there was one left which my DH put on the 2 yr old but the 4yr old cried and cried saying he wanted a nappy. I finally "bribed" him to stop crying and go to sleep by saying if he went to sleep and woke with a dry bed we would go shopping tomorrow and buy someting he wants..

Is that wrong? and what do I do tomorrow night when both of them start crying for nappies.. The 2 yr old won't give them up either even tho he is always dry in the morning..

I haven't reached that stage yet but, to help my friend's baby give up his night time bottle she bought him a special night time sippy cup. Maybe special night time "big boy" underwear would make them happy?

Maybe you should go to the shops and let them choose some special big boy undies which they can only wear at night time. It might work.

Yep, a special "grown up" present. It doesnt matter what it is. You can treat it like a right of passage type thing, make a fuss about how proud you are of you big boys etc.

How did they go Nic? Did they both wake up dry?

I thought of the big boy undies for night time too. Perhaps that's what you can buy them whilst you're out buying last nights bribe hehehe.

well you could always tell isaac he can either have a new packet of nappies, or whatever he wanted as reward for a dry night. heh.

Or you could reuse that dry nappy! LOL.. that might make them think twice about wanting a nappy on!

and each morning he walks out saying... My pants are dry here have a feel... lol.. Jacob doesn't care he just gets up and thats that lol

YAY for the dry nights Nic. I hope you have a wet sheet / mattress protector on your bed jic

Tehya wakes nearly every morning dry yet she is still wearing a pull up to bed. Not sure if it's me or her that's afraid to give them up. I have way too much washing as it is.

LOL at Isaac pretending his undies are like a nappy. All good so long as he doesn't forget and pee in them.

I think that was my biggest reason for not giving up the nappies.. But Isaac was just getting to big for them..

I don't have a matress protector but I figure it doesn't matter as I am buying him a new matress next week.. Well maybe the week after and then we will get a MP then Its funny cus I worry more about isaac being wet then Jacob..

and we remind Isaac every night that his jocks are not a nappy and not to pee in them.. and he rolls his eyes and says I KNOW!!!

Isaac is a funny bugga yuo know.. he sometimes does things that has us worried abotu his development. We were told the seizures he had at birth were fine but we wouldn't know if they effected his development until school age and now and then he does things that make us wonder if they did do some sort of damage but I am starting to think he plays dumb or is just super lazy

This made me laugh- children are funny thinkers sometimes

Glad it sounds like all is going well- the night undies sounds like a great idea.
