Hi all, my DS has been TT for a few months now but I seem to be having a problem with his behind! It sounds a bit strange but I have found I still need to wipe his bottom with wipes because toilet paper makes his 'area' very red and sore. We have soft toilet paper (no scratchy stuff). It needs to only happen once or twice a day to become inflammed. Does anyone else have this problem and will it go away? Or will he need to use wipes for the rest of his life? !!!!
My son is 4 and I still encourage him to use wipes rather than toilet paper because it is much easier to get the area clean and much gentler. I'm guessing by the range of "adult" toilet wipes available now that it's not a bad idea anyway.
i would prob encourage them to use wipes just cause they clean better, but also do you think that perhaps the ink or fragrance of the toilet paper may be hurting his bottom. i sometimes have a reaction to toilet paper so i started buying safe unbleached toilet paper, there are softer hypo-allegenic ones as well. just a thought....
my DS is well and truly TT but WILL NOT wipe his own behind !!! i do it for him and i use a cloth or a wipe otherwise it dosent seem to get clean and as you said it looks sore... i was considering putting pawpaw cream around there as a barrier !?!
