My DD is now 2.5 years old and knows when she's doing a poo etc and has occasionally been toileted at daycare, however, at home, she flatly refuses to go to the loo! She has developed a serious toilet refusal and I have no idea how to get her onto it. We started TT back in January when it was hot and she was 2, but she would wee all over the place without a sense of it coming etc. I think our screams of telling her to rush to the loo frightened her off?!
Anyway, she will be 3 in December and I want to try again in September school hols (I'm a teacher and work fulltime making it difficult too) and I would love some advice on how to start? Just put her in undies and go from there? Do i still put her in nappies for her nap and overnight? Do pullups work?
I'm totally lost and have no idea how to even get her onto the toilet let alone getting her to go to it when she needs to! HELP!! She needs to be TT by the time she starts kinder which is next year.
I don't know if this is going to be much help, but I don't know if I really believe in tt as such.
Both my littlies kind of did it themselves. The potty was always there, and they knew what it was for, but I never made a big deal of it.
With ds I probably did encourage and suggest the toilet more, but I really don't think it made a difference. When he was ready it just happened, although he had night nappies longer than dd.
