Well this weekend has been a pretty comprehensive TT fail in this house.... I am just bewildered as to why, after happily and independently using the potty for like 3 months, she would just.stop. I don't get it! So we have a child who is fully TT at day care and fully clueless at home!

DS used the potty at daycare on friday... and has weed on the plants a few times over the weekend, but then has also weed and pooed himself :wall:
I think it because they have peers who are doing the same thing at Child care so they copy each others behavior but at home they just forget
How is everyone going, we have had 2 days away from home and will be out again today, is it worth getting some pull ups for her to use when we are out and about, will these leak if she doesn't tell me she's done wees?
She is still asking to wear knickers so they are over her nappy :rofl:
I spoke to mum and she said i was TT'd before i was 2, am thinking i might buy some treats and stickers today as a reward system for her, for not having her dummy during the day and for wees on the potty.. is anyone else trying rewards?
I have been using pull ups for outings (well most of the time this weekend) and they last about 2 hours, which is about how long you would wait between toilet trips anyway. I doubt they would survive overnight so I have just been using nappies for that. I haven't been using rewards because I have a psychological problem with it, I am not sure why. Maybe I am just being an idiot, but I don't want to reward her for what is normal behaviour IYKWIM. Although as we have not been having a great run I have been reconsidering my stance.
AFM this morning has been marginally better - with a lot of hovering and encouragement we managed two wees in the potty..... closely followed by one on the floor/ some nice clean towels :doh:

i have no idea where to begin with DD. She's already 2yrs and 8months. She has no problem telling and comphrending everything and anything but when it comes to going to the toilet she is just not interested.
I already told her she cannot wee in her nappy anymore and she says she's a big girl and wont wee in her nappy but she still does.

DD is almost 21 months. She's been coming up and saying "Do wees" and "Do poos" and "Toidet" :lol: She's usually been in her nappy when she's said it, but it's a great start. She put her toy in her potty and said "Do wees, good girl" so she's kind of understanding it. This week is the first week I've been home for solid amounts of time so I've put a pair of undies on her and we'll see how we go. She doesn't like her potty, but is happy to sit on the toilet. Can't wait for it to all start clicking into place. Any tips will be much appreciated!
Miss J has been TTing for a few months now.
Doing my head in with the night times because she does one wee in the nappy and wants a new one on. And whenever she gets into trouble she wee's everywhere!! GRRR
She is doing well at DC and getting there at home. She wants to go on the big toilet all the time and doesn't want help. I did have to laugh when I saw her trying to wee on the toilet like daddy! :rofl:

Ahh well when i go into town on Wed i will pick something up.. for me it's not about rewarding 'normal behavior' as really for her it's not normal, it's something she has to learn.. i guess i see it as it would be like saying i wont reward her later in life for cleaning up.. it's normal to clean up after yourself yet it's something we 'teach' them IYKWIM.
Hmmm, as soon as I put the undies on DD, we've gone immediately backwards. She's stopped saying anything and is just making puddles everywhere and then carrying on her merry way, without a hiccup. I've put her on the toilet, zippo. So I've put a pull-up back on and we'll see what happens.
:doh: i didn't buy pull-ups either.. BUT she got given some knickers for a x-mas pressie today so now we have a few pairs.. she gets very upset when she wees so hopefully now we will be home a couple of days in a row she will figure it out.. not expecting any miracles though.
ZF I'm probably not explaining it very well and TBH I don't even really understand what my problem is with it... That's why I said it was a psychological problem, its a bit irrational and doesn't make sense even to me. PacRak we had the same when we. first put her in knickers - no real understanding that they weren't like a nappy at first. Good luck to all!

Oh, I am happy to see this thread. DD1 is 19months started telling us when she wanted to go to the loo all by herself about 2-3weeks ago. I bought a seat for the loo and she did wee a few times but then stopped. She would still tell us when she wanted to go but would not sit on the loo so last week I bought a potty. She will sit on it but whenever I say do wee, she points to the loo, which she wont sit on. I have tried sitting there and reading books, singing, colouring but she just wont wee. After getting off the potty she will then wee next to the loo. So I know she comprehends what to do but not that she an do it in the potty and not the loo. Any tips to get the first wee in the potty to start her off?
hi ladies, hoping someone has some suggestions for us. DD1 has been day trained for over 12 months but still isnt night trained,we've tried absolutely EVERYTHING!!!! this morning we had a tiny (i think) advance, she went to bed with knickers on as we'd run out of pyjama pants nappies and when i opened the door i said whats that smell?(i honestly didnt know wht it was because it smelt kinda gassy!) and she got all funny and said dont worry about it mum, lets go, and stupid me, repeat the question coz i thought maybe she had something in her room she shouldnt have IYKWIM, and she goes its just wee's mummy dont worry about it.
so i think she's comprehending that wetting the bad isnt something good to do and is embarassed by it but i have NO idea how to get her to get up and wee, its like she doesnt get the whole ok i need to get up and out of bed to go ITMS? she can do it in her down time b4 bed and when she wakes in the morning but not while she's sleeping
I hope it didn't sound rude hun, i wasn't trying to... i was saying for me i think the reward system might work as although for us it's 'normal' for them it's not IYKWIM.:
I'm not big on rewarding kids for certain behaviours but i think if i make a big deal out of when she goes wees etc then it might work.. i'm thinking stickers, pretty junk jewelery etc and then throw in some cookies or m&m's every now and then... see how we go... at the moment we use the 'your a big girl now' :rofl:
Will have to try reading a book on the loo or something then to get her to stay there for poo's! Thanks girls!
We did rewards too and now I'm not sure if it was a good idea because every time she goes now which is a lot she runs out yelling 'treat!' and I have to find something every time, lol. Her treats are just like sultanas, or a couple of grapes, lol, she thinks they're a great treat. Or she gets a sticker.
With the weeing in undies thing, DD did that too. At first I was just letting her go nude all the time. Then thought I should put undies on her so she got the idea that even if she was wearing something she still had to use the toilet. As expected she wee'd in them straight away but then after a few accidents she got the idea that it wasn't like a nappy and would go on the floor if she wee'd in them. I got her some tinkerbell ones and dora ones and she loves them, always wants to wear her 'unnies'. But I wish they had them in size 1!! Size 2 is a bit big for her little bum. Apparently they have size 1 at pumpkin patch but I haven't been there yet.

Skybie from what I have read you can't really do much about night time until they have a certain level of physical maturity which suppresses urination during sleep or makes the signal strong enough to wake them up. Its not a conscious thing so they can't really control it IYKWIM. That's what I've read anyway - sorry if its not much help.
