    Shrinkage of bamboo??? tips advice help?

    mods feel free to move this where need eb but was thinking maybe some nappy makers would know the answer to my q.

    ive decided to make cloth pads for dd and me when i need them lol i have bought some bamboo and expect it to shrink should i pre wash it now or after its sewn togethor into a menstrual pad?
    any tips idea's?

    can i make breast pads out of bamboo anyone?

    you need to shrink it before sewing. 3 hot washes with hot dryer will give you max shrinkage.

    o.k coolies ill have to do that then cool i got 50% bamboo 50% cotton so ya still think 3 hot washes?

    I'm not familiar with 50/50 bamboo cotton but am with 70/30 so this is based on that.

    You should expect shrinkage of 1 - 2cm per metre

    I've only ever done one wash before sewing but I finish it off in the dryer. By finishing off I mean hang it on the line till it's mostly dry then put it in the dryer.

    Is it fleece? It will shed a lot of fluff if it is fleece (like windcheater material).

    Preshrinking is the way to go because if you sew before it will then shrink under the stitching and it will look bad and might fray if the overlocking doesn't sit right.
