My son is now just under 6 months. We have been battling the rash of rashes - and I think the PUL covers could be contributing to it. I have decided to change to wool covers full time in a last ditch effort to relieve it for him.
He was diagnosed with eczema in his nappy area (all in the upper crotch up to belly button), so I am also trying to find a washing detergent that doesn't irritate him.
We have gone through every cream, lotion and potion out there and not having much luck.
So, heres hoping the natural, breathable fibres of wool at least partly help him!
Anyone here use wool all the time?
I use BBH fitted nappies and am getting a possum pouchers soaker knitted to try, and have ordered some other ones (forget the name!).
I have always used all wool lanolized covers (tickle turdle crocheted wool wraps) and they are magnificent. no leaks, not even in the morning and hardly have any problem with rashes. I can't recommend wool covers highly enough. Fantastic. Well worth the cost/effort.
We alternate between wool and fleece at night (only use PUL in AIOs really - we're in Nth Queensland and don't have any reactive issues but need maximum breathability). I love wool most, but fleece is great for being a quick dry, easy to care for solution. Might be worth keeping as a second option if your DS doesn't react to it.
Thanks for the replies. I have a disana cover that I lanolised but it leaked today - compression I think! Have a possum pouches soaker on order too, so far so good with the rash - wool seems to agree with him a lot more.
How do I avoid compression leaking/wicking though? Should I lanolise a bit more?
