So, I've had a bit of tinea versicolour on my shoulders and back and neck for a couple of months now. It's flared up because I think of my changing hormones with having bub/breastfeeding, etc and only just saw the GP about it who said to use Canesten cream and/or Selsun Yellow to clear it up.
But, I was wondering if anyone knew of any natural treatments?
And also, I was wondering what foods trigger such things as tinea/fungus on the skin?
Hmm, there was a cream that my naturopath said to get from the chemist that was for tinea versicolour..and im assuming coz my naturopath suggested it that its natural (it would make sense hey?)
but i cant for the life of me remember what it was called..im just using selsun yellow.
She did say to just go in and tell them and they should know what im talking about..maybe you could try that, or i know there is a BB centre naturopath hanging around the forums, maybe she will pop in and inform us if she knows the name of it..
Hi , my name is Jocelyn and I am one of the naturopaths at the new Belly Belly centre in Melbourne.
Here are some great natural ideas for you to try.
Do not use any chemical shower gels or soaps anymore.
Use margosa and tea tree organic soap bars- Tea tree and margosa essential oils are the best anti fungal remedies!
You can also try a homemade peel twice a week: 4 Teaspoons of sea salt (found in supermarket) 2 spoons of virgin olive oil 2 spoons of fresh lemon juice Mix these ingredients in a cup . While showering take the salt in your hand and rub it throughly on the affected skin area. After doing this massage the affected areas with this mix: (Prepare it once, it will last for a month!) 10 ml of virgin olive oil 3 drops of tea tree essential oil 3 drops of margosa/neem essential oil.
Other excellent creams to try are calendula and tea tree creams.
If you would like me to get hold of any of these for you just email me on jocelyn@bellybelly.com.au
Good luck!
Jocelyn
