Anyone using slippery elm in pregnancy?

My naturopath has suggested I take slippery elm powder mixed with yoghurt or honey or water to help with my poor digestion and constipation in pregnancy.

Is anyone or has anyone used it in pregnancy and did you find it useful? How often did you use it?

There are a few websites that warn that its use in pregnancy is not well studied but most seem to say it is fine to use and my sister used it through out her pregnancy but she didn't like the texture/taste, although I don't mind it.

    TIA

    Hey Dusty

I used bit of it during one of my pregnancies (I don't mind the taste either!) for heartburn. Then I read it shouldn't be used during pregnancy so I stopped. I don't think it helped me a great deal anyway.

I'm sure it's fairly harmless though. Not sure why they say don't use it. Bit like saw- dust really!!

    Thanks for your reply Lee.

I think it will be ok to use in pg, but I am going to only have it once a day now that it is helping my constipation (yipee!!!). It is much more gentle that the laxative I took and hopefully will just help my digestive system find a good balance.

Did you take it during pg Lulu?
Yep saw the tablet, but apparently it is better absorbed in powder form.
