Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
And that's it really, has the search been completely stuffed because everyone was looking in the obvious spot, along the original flight path, and then it wasn't until much later that it was widened due to 'new' info. If this was all communicated correctly, immediately, would there have been a better chance of the plane being found by now?
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
I think quite probably yes. Of course, until the plane OR more evidence is located, no one will know. There was a critical period of about 8 hours after the plane first 'disappeared' when there was a window of opportunity to change the outcome. And more eyes pointed in the right direction might have altered the chance of survival for a lot of people, at least for the first few days. Our PM was on the telly tonight announcing a number of additional RAAF planes are being deployed to search the areas adjacent to Australian waters. But it's a bloody big ocean, and I can't help thinking that IF the plane ran out of fuel and went down somewhere out there, there might have been survivors bobbing around in life rafts 2,3 or 4 days later. Now, not so much. Now, they're looking for wreckage.
And that's the thing - for families waiting for news - not knowing is the absolute worst. Even finding the wreckage would let them start grieving. Plus, the search will cost millions more now that it involves such a huge area. And the other horrible reality is the nasty national security implications - are there 200+ hostages being held somewhere? Do the bad guys now have a Boeing 777 stashed somewhere, ready to fly it into the middle of a crowded city?

Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
Please, for those families, please let them have found something

Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
The theory written by a pilot about an electrical fire, and the pilot turning towards the longest runway that he could reach, has made the most sense to me so far. He talks about how much fuel he would have had, explains the altitude differences, radar stuff, communications etc. I would copy and paste it but I can't find it!
I just really hope they're found soon and these families can have some closure. It seems as though it was initially thought that there's no doubt it's crashed. Most likely the thought was that there'd be no survivors, but then all this other stuff came out slowly and I think those poor families would have had their hopes raised and crushed a few times by now.
What's the deal now with the two oil slicks they found in the ocean where they first thought the crash was? Were they nothing in the end or from something else?
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
I thought the oil slicks were from a cargo ship, I'm pretty sure i remember reading that.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
They tested the oil from the slicks and found it to be consistent with ships.
I saw that blog post too, made a lot of sense. But other theories have made sense too. I suspect we'll never know.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
It took several years to find out about the Air France cause being ice particles even after discovering the wreckage.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
What on earth would it have been doing south west of us? That's a really long way off course and not consistent with the last radar images, but I guess if they turned around after that and travelled hours in our direction, it's possible. Really hope they find something.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
The reports are saying that if it is out of Perth, it's consistent with something happening to the pilots and the plane flying on auto until it ran out of fuel.
The blog post by the pilot was saying that if there was a fire, the pilot would have changed course, the fire would have turned off the equipment and flying to 45,000 feet would have reduced the oxygen for the fire. But if they couldn't get it out, they only had limited time for their own oxygen supply even with the masks.
I read that the black box records conversations in the ****pit but it rewrites itself every two hours. So if the pilots have been unconscious/died and the plane flew on, chances are the black box will be silent :(

I have been hearing that if this is the plane, it's possible that there was a compression leak which caused the pilots, passengers and crew to pass out then the plane flew until it ran out of fuel. They are saying that if this is the case, everyone on board would have been dead before the plane crashed.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
Obviously the best possible outcome is that the plane has landed somewhere remote and unknown and there are survivors... I highly doubt this had happened though.
If they have crashed, I really hope Tinks' theory is correct and the passengers and crew passed out before crashing. I would much prefer to think that they simply fell asleep and didn't suffer the sheer terror of knowing they were going to crash and not survive.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?

We need to remember that the ocean is a dynamic place, and many days have passed since the plane was flying, so if these bits turn out to be wreckage, they may already be far from the place the plane crashed. One of the very first things the RAAF did was fly out there and chuck marker buoys into the water so they can start tracking how the water is moving around.

My thoughts exactly. I really hope there was no suffering, it can be awful to think of what everyone on board may have been through.
I don't like that there's this seemingly obvious theory, in which the pilot did his best and just couldn't save it, but there are slanderous stories or there questioning him and his political preferences to try to blame him and say he's kidnapped everyone. That would be horrible for his family.

Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
Is this the one Teeki?
A Startlingly Simple Theory About the Missing Malaysia Airlines Jet | Autopia | Wired.com
This would be the best theory I read. I liked it because it had no sinister claims in it.
I was thinking that perhaps it was hijacked and is somewhere like North Korea, a place who would not say they had the plane. That they have done all their Nuc/missile testing and now they are concentrating on other areas. If they are there I don't see a good outcome for them either. But could you imagine in 10 ears time all these people been released on day.
The ocean is huge and very very deep, I think the how can they lose a whole plain is an easy question to answer when you think of it. The harder question to answer obviously is how can you find a whole (if it is infact still whole) plane in such a vast area?
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
I think they've marked the area in the Indian Ocean because in that area it's about 5kms deep. A black box will send a ping signal but it can only be heard to a depth of 4.2 kms. It wasn't making sense to me why they were searching in strange areas but this now suggests that they're looking in the deeper parts of the ocean.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
Miss S, one of the planes they're using to search is a US Poseidon, apparently it has some kind of sonar thing that means it can "spot" submarines. So they're not just looking at what's floating around on top of the water, if that makes sense.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
Alright I am very academically interested in this, I fly monthly but I am terrified of flying....
I think the plane is on the ground. Sadly I believe all passengers are dead. There were a number of US airline engineers on that flight, allegedly by coincidence. Think they hit 45,000 feet to knockout the passengers, then headed for the andaman sea. Why did they turnoff all communications transmissions? Why didnt they contact Vietnamese air traffic control?
Any why did 5 people check in for the flight and never board? Their luggage was removed prior to take off. What did or do they know that we don't?
Someone knows something probably the NSA in the states....
Xx

Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
Thirtimelucky, I'd imagine that there would be people not board flights all the time - extreme anxiety or stress at flying, unforseen circumstances, even being too drunk to board the flight. Or it could have been a passport/ticketing/customs issue too.

Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
I have been following this since the beginning. At first it was because aviation news is my free pass with my father in law, he is a senior flight instructor, aviation fan and is everything aviation so a story like this gets me through an in laws date without having to resort to weather talk.
But now I am following because I want the families to have answers. They deserve that at the very least.
I believe that the authorities know way more than the media has reported.
I believe there is more evidence I what happened on board the flight before things went bad. I am dubious as to whether the ocean current has taken debris to where we are looking, and really our oceans are filled with that much rubbish, it could anything.
I don't have any idea where the plane is, but I believe that once the governments involved reveal the full extend of information they have in regards to this plane then a real search area will be established.
Fwiw, father in law believes it's at the bottom of the ocean just off china.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
Beansbeansyou sound well informed so I'm agreeing with you in concept. I believe someone, knows mote than they are telling... Why is what I'd like to know?
If it is off the bottom of china - that would suggest an accident, a struggle or a pilot suicide? And my geography may be off - but does that fit with the reported turn? Xx

It's absolutely normal for people not to board flights, connecting flights are delayed, people hit traffic on the way to the airport.... I nearly missed a connection after 3 hours in an airport because I got bored and wandered to the other end then misjudged how long it would take to get back to my end of the terminal. Me and my family were rushed over the airbridge with about 3 minutes to spare before they would have taken off without us.

Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
more developing news that the flight did crash into the southern Indian ocean. apparently relatives will be taken to the recovery area at some stage. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families :(
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
Announcement overnight by the Malaysian PM: they can now state definitively that Flight MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean & there are no survivors.
As far as I can tell, this comes after advanced data modeling was done on the satellite data. I'm not sure how they reached the conclusion that there were no survivors, except that they must have had a number of scenarios mapped out & this one fits a picture of the plane &/- pilots being incapacitated & therefore the plane flying until it ran out of fuel (presuming that the pilots would otherwise have initiated some kind of emergency landing).
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
They can't say definitively though. If you read all the other reports it's an assumption. Not based on fact. Simply based on no other evidence to suggest otherwise.
Those poor families :(
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
And yes I think Aluminium looks good on me too :P
-
What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
Exactly, Rouge. I was just paraphrasing what the PM said. It was probably the kindest thing to do in the face of mounting evidence, to not keep stringing the families along.
The type of modeling that was done was a similar process to the modeling that helped them find the Air France wreckage. It's not proven until it's proven, but the other theories have been disproven, if that makes sense.

Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
Oh please know I wasn't having a go. I read the same thing. I was just airing my grievances with the media.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
I actually checked the flight map to see if there's any chance I'd have seen it if I'd been paying attention, since I'm southern WA.
But I'm inland a bit & from what I can see, it would've been off the coast. And probably far enough out that even coastal towns wouldn't have seen it.
It didn't even cross paths with any other plane... Fluke?
That's if that's even what happened.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
So a pilot can depressurise the cabin him/herself?? Killing everyone on board in under an hour??
I'm a little unsettled after hearing that...
They sound so sure. Well they've all made up their minds that it is in the Indian Ocean. But they can't guarantee that can they? Not yet?
Not sure. Just my thoughts...
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
Yep. I like how Australia is saying they won't be stopping the hunt until they find something. There's rumours Malaysian airlines wants the search over as it's costing them a lot of money.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
Well I hope Australia keeps pushing them. Though I'm not sure there is a person in the world who doesn't want definitive answers by now. None of it is sitting right with me. The whole 'that's where it would've run out of fuel, so that's where it is, we're done now'... Nup. That's not an answer.
I understand that it'll possibly take years to find the black boxes, if that's where they are, but they have no proof yet that the plane is even there! At least make sure it's there before you go giving answers you don't have?
Hopefully they've been able to start searching again today & they'll know at least something soon.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
I agree Clover. That's not proof in my book. Hopefully they find proof sometime soon.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
Breaking news: new sat images of 122 objects floating in search area, ranging in size from 1 to 23 meters.
FWIW, I don't think anyone is saying "we're done now." There is a strong recognition in Aust & internationally that the families have been through hell due to the way the Malaysian authorities handled the situation. There's a real sense of compassion in wanting to get the answers these families need and urgency to get them before the evidence is lost.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
I think they have finally found it :( The worst thing is that where they have sighted the possible wreckage could still be 1000's of km's from where it actually went down because it's been out there for nearly 3 weeks now and the ocean currents would have taken it away from the crash site.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
Finally a conspiracy theory That could be true, and all thanks to Sarah Palin... The plane went straight to heaven and that's why little evidence has been found.
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
OMG did she truly say that? What a fool
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
Lol it was a hoax. But still hilarious ;)
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
Apparently they are spotting loads of stuff in the new search zone. I just hope it's not loads of random garbage floating around out there. Humans are a bunch of filthy pigs (don't get me started on the topic of how much plastic is floating around in the ocean) :( .
-
Re: What's your Flight 370 conspiracy theory?
I think that's why they are being so cautious until they can actually get there and retrieve it. Until then it's just as likely it's part of the great ocean rubbish dump :(
