ROFL!!!

Thats my number one pice of advice to expectant mums, no matter what gestation... always pack a diary (or something that can be used as one)

I really wish I'd kept a better account of what Brendan went through and what I went through too!

i started one and wrote in it the first few weeks, i actually dont know where it is.... im sure i will come across it when we move again!

for Nixon's birthday we are combining it with my neice (sisters DD) who is born 4 days after Nixon. Having it at my place and going to hire some stuff from the toy library. You can have the stuff for up to 4 weeks i think and its pretty cheap, kids love it.
we will do a couple of games maybe pass the parcel, not sure what else.
im going to do a construction workers cake for Nix and my sister is going to try and do a dora cake. Nixon loves dora but most things are so girly, but if there are some dora things on the day he will love it! and the lolly bags we will do half each im gonna do workers ones which is pretty simple just a brown paper bag with some yellow in a cross. its from a cake book my sister has they have whole themes which is great

i still remember those dates. 12th April 06 had my first leak.
didnt get to hospital until 14th April 06 after 8hrs of leaking (dont worry sally i felt like i was just wetting myself and didnt even want to go to the hospital to be told so)
1am 17th April constractions started, 3am rung dh,5.30am being taken to delivery suites, 6am rang parents (they were interstate with bags ready and packed)

have you taken Brendan to the docs to check for a hernia?
can the tounge tie stil be snipped at this age to help fix it?

No I haven't taken him to the drs, i'm waiting to hear back from the physio or the CHN. We saw Brendans paed end of Jan and he didn't say anything. (I forgot to ask and thought it was "normal" anyway) I'm giving them till the end of the week, if I haven't heard i'll take him to my gp.

I have no idea about the tongue-tie... the CHN didn't know how it would work now that hes older. But she did seem to think they still would be able to. I've heard from the sperechy and we are on the waiting list (about 2-4 weeks)

I guess at this stage i'm not too worried, he's healthy and he's happy and thats whats important. Hernia's aren't that bad, and his (if it is one) his good (just not getting better) I just keep telling myself it'll all be ok

Hi all, new to the site and forum. I also had a premmie. My princess was born at 33 weeks, after stopping labour at 26 weeks. She was lucky enough to only spend a month in hospital, but not without a few ups and downs of course. Biggest problem we had was that she was unable to digest her milk and I had to express ( a jersey cow i'm not - 30 mins to express 2mls - FUN) to help her digest the formula. It's frustrating watching your little one only getting 6mls milk an hour thru a nasal-gastric. Then progressing to 20mls, just to drop back again.

How old is your little girl now? I also had a 33weeker who will be 2 next month.
i'd like to say things get easier, well they do in some ways,feeding etc but he's just hitting terrible two stage at the moment and as gorgeous as he is, tests the limits a lot! thats fantastic you made it to 33wks after labour starting at 26wks

Sally- im good thanks, Tyron is 5months old today.... he is such a boofer boy. he got 2 teeth at 4 1/2 months old and weighed him yesterday he's 8.6kg...... i think i can see him growing infront of me lol.
Most definatley going to be the tower of the family i am sure of it, even looking at Nixon's corrected stats Tyron is about 6cm taller.

Nickers compare him to Sofia who is a bit over 4 months old and is 5.2kg but also teething

Brendan is EVERYWHERE! lol... he moves so fast and is sooo stealthy too. He has just started to cruise the furniture... woohoo!!

My little girl is actually turning 7 in April. Altho she only spent a month in scbu, she still seems to have some problems now. By the time she was one she'd spent about 2 more weeks in hospital with bronchiolitis and a night in ICU. She's developed a stutter which they say is due to the early birth. But my girl is a fighter...she fights with me every day LOL.
I was so lucky to have not have had her at 26 weeks... the biggest shock for me that day was I didn't even realise I was in labour (she's my fourth baby). The dr's didn't hold out much hope for us getting to 28 weeks. But as I said, she's a fighter.
She literally kicked her way out on the day she was born. When I went into labour, she had one foot presenting with the other stuck under my right ribs, and her head under my left ribs. Emergency ceaser followed.
But as you said Nickers, it does get easier and that was something we really held onto and it helped...unfortunately we had no support when she was born, so it was tough to talk about what was happening.

WOW 7!! You did well to hold out until 33 weeks!! Was she born due to pre-term labour or was there some other reason? Brendan came early because my waters broke at 28 weeks.

I went into labour 3 hours after having an ultrasound (gestational diabetes meant bub was growing to fast) and while I was seeing the doc my waters broke. I didn't tell him tho, cause i thought i had majorly wet myself...oops. I went to the toilet and thought "this isn't right" and went back to the nurses station and told them that my waters had broken. Thats when they found her foot was presenting. She had squirmed in the 3 hours to burst my waters with her toes. I'd had my show about 3 weeks before I actually went into labour. I didn't have any painful contractions though, just "period" pain in the back. My wise hubby decided to time the pains and within 4 complaints, I had gone from 20 minutes apart to 3 minutes apart. Within 2 hours I had gone from 3 cm dilated (which I had been for 7 weeks) to 8 cm dilated. So it was very quick in the end.

hi everyone, just thought id introduce myself here after having dd at 33w 5d after a placental abruption two and a half days earlier. It seems a little strange to be psting in here though because although these past few weeks have been stressful and tiring it seems like nothing compaired to the rest of your stories that i've read. Lydia didn't need any help breathing and brest fed right from the start, only needing nasal gastro topups because she was too sleepy. but even that was okay because i've got so much milk this time round. so much so that i've started feeding it to ds (who weaned himself at 6 1/2 months coz i was pg). Anyway we came home on day 12 and so far everything has been good here too. Seeing the clinic nurse tomorrow to do all the normal weight checks etc.

i just read your birth announcment recently. congratulations!!
My son was 33weeks and 3 days and a huge 2296grams
He spent 4weeks in hospital which seemed like an enternity to me but compared to others it was nothing.
any legnth of stay is too long.
WOW @ breast feeding from the start what an amazing little girl!

thats great u can feed DS also, when i couldnt bf my second (who was FT) i was expressing for him and had so much of it i was giving some to my 18month old who hadnt had BM since 9months.

One thing i hope she doesnt get but is quiet common in prems is reflux.
DS started getting it at about 6-7weks old or when he was actually due.

Hi Mrs Baj, congratulations on the birth of your dd!!

I have a question for the moms on here ... can colic come back?????? DD has been soooo restless the last couple of days. She is constantly crying and want to be picked up, and then want to be put down and waking up during the night (not that she is sleeping through) She will arch her back and scream and then toss and turn and moan. She pass wind and then she is ok for a while. I have no idea what can be the problem. She is not eating anything new or strange. Yes, she is teething, but can that make her tummy hurt??

BTW - have any of your kids chew their lips bloody?? DD grinds her teeth, I think it's because they are new and strange and it sounds funny when she does that, and in the process she bites her lip. I should just probably watch that it does not become infected, right? Nothing I can really do about than??

Nadine, it sounds a lil like silent reflux to me.

Brendan grinds his teeth, but never bitten his lip. poor lil mite. I dont think there is much you can do... maybe some bonjella to help protect the area?

Argghhh Sally!!!! Isn't reflux suppose to be OVER now??!?!?!? Maybe I'll try some Gaviscon tonight ... hmmm.

Yeah I put some gliserien (same as bonjella) on it last night, poor thing. If she had a husband and went to the shops like that, the town would have been talking

Brendan has been reflux free for around 6 weeks... but just a few days ago he had a few bouts of it.
