    Baby carriers

Ok... I have a sling (and I'll use it at the beginning, but I have a bad neck/shoulders from whiplash from a motor vehicle accident in my teens - I can't even wear a loose halterneck anything!) but I think I want a carrier too. Problem is, I just don't know which one and I know nothing about any of the brands out there.

When I was at mothers group when DS was a newborn, one lady had a hug a bub. It looked pretty good.

Today at the markets, I saw a lady with a similar thing, but she was wearing her kid on her back.

I've heard that the ones that let baby curl up into you are better than the ones that let baby's feet dangle.

What are good brands, what do YOU have and how much should I expect to buy one from (and where) and what's a good price for a 2nd hand one?

    Thank in advance

I used a Close Carrier for DD which is like a Hug a Bub, but MUCH easier to use. As she got bigger I put her in an Ergo carrier, it distributes bub's weight onto your hips rather than your shoulders so you can use them for a long time

DD was in a hug a bub and a ring sling in early weeks, months then an ergo later on.

This time I have a close carrier (I like it better!!) and the baby will be in that until it fits the ergo which I love and DD still uses it!

I loved my ring sling. I know people who love the ergo and the hug a bub also. There are lots of good ones depending on what you want.

    Close Carrier!!!!!!

Without a doubt. And I've tried a LOT of carriers.. LOL

After that - I have only two other carriers, a half buckle Beetlebum, and a full buckle Beetlebum - everything else has been sold off

I have an Ergo, and it is great!!! The weight sits on your hips not your waist which is awesome cause I have a really bad back and it doesn't hurt me to wear it!! You do need to have an insert to use it for newborns, which I find is totally fine.

There is a sport version too which is lighter material!

I'm another ERGO lover.....DD is always super happy in it and both DH and I are happy to wear it for long periods of time. It's very comfortable. I am not sure I will use it as my newborn sling and will probably get something else for when the baby is really little but after 3 months - ERGO all the way!

I have the ergo sport and have used it from birth & love it! I use it everywhere I go, prefer it to the pram.
It's ergonomically designed to support bubs body (they're in a sitting position rather than hanging which is what babies do in most other carriers).
It comes in 3 diff styles we got the sport because it's lighter and dh found it to be the most comfortable of the 3.
The weight is carried by your hips not your back so you can wear it for ling periods without a prob.
    Love it

Wow just looked them up, so expensive but oh so pretty. They look similar to the ergo but in pretty prints.

Believe me, in terms of comfort for both the wearer and baby, a beetlebum shiats all over an ergo. I've owned 2 ergos (standard and sport) and quite a few other carriers (no addiction here I swear) and a BB is by far the best carrier.

Well like all things you get what you pay for I guess and the beetle bum isn't mass produced like other carriers. I love the prints it comes in they're divine!
I still stand by my trusty ergo though I'd be lost without it
