hi there,
I am soon to have bub number 3. My second child has only just turned one, so I will 2 bubbas under 2 and a 7 year old.
anyway, I am looking at buying a second hand swing for our lounge room/dining/kitchen area that I can put newborn into during non-nap times (or maybe even some nap times!) so I don't have to run up and down our 2 storey house.
I have looked online at the papasan Fisher Price - looks good - what do you think?
others that are good for newborns - and maybe can swing on their own?? don't want to spend too much as only for the first 5 months at most I would say.
I have the fisher price aquarium swing as well and i love it! It more bulky then our take along swing but its worth it. Ive even had DD2 in it while she was sick because laying down flat i her bed was making her gag.
thanks sooooooooo much ladies - even though this is my third baby, I have so much to learn! I have had a look at the Fisher price Rainforest open top take along swing - looks good - do one of you have this??? there are so many Fisher price ones that are similar, I am getting confused! what is the difference between the Rainforest one and the aquarium one - apart from the 'theme' of course!
btw Freya - thanks so much, but I don't live anywhere near Sydney!
the Papasan one seems to have the complaint that the swing is too fast - on a review I just read - but other Fisher price ones say that by 3 months, babies are TOO BIG and cannot fit in !! I do have big babies so this concerns me - wanted it for a bit longer than 3 months!
If you know any review websites that are good, please let me know, but really YOUR experiences are probably better to hear about!
Hated my papasan and so did bubs! It was way too fast when he was little, and by the time that he was big enough to make the swing slower (even on the slowest speed it was pretty fast!) he almost didn't fit in it. I agree that by 3 months I had pretty much given up on it ($300 down the drain!). I am going to give it a go with new bubba, but if she hates it too, it is going straight away. I know some bubs seem to like it, though, so if you can get it cheap it does have lovely music etc and the miror thing seems to interest them. Sometimes I would just pop him in and not turn it on for a few minutes to go to the loo. With two others around you might want something a bit more portable too, cause it is pretty big and hard to move one handed..
My DD2 will be one in 3 weeks and she still fits in her swing (fisher price aquarium) with plenty of room and my friend had her daughter in it and shes almost 2. My one has three different swinging directions and i think 4 or 5 different noises like rainforest and birds chirping plus the usual elevator music and 2 lay back positons.
We have the FP my little lamb Cradle and Swing. Don't know what we would have done without it. We didn't buy it straight away as we thought we could survive without it. But only wished we had of got it earlier. DD is 7months tomorrow and still uses it. I suggest waiting until you have bubs then testing he/she in it. I have a few friends who's babies hated swings.
HI LADIES! thanks for all the replies. I have got my eye on an Aquarium cradle swing on ebay - I assume this is NOT a take along? I have asked but is there a take along version and a cradle version? so many!
I am also watching a Swallo Musico open top cradle swing - looks Ok too.
we got given a 2nd hand mothers choice rainforest-themed swing by a family friend, its quite small and light but doesnt fold up. we are yet to need it but both her grandkids absolutely loved it and used it until they were 1. it doesnt play music just has 3 differnt swinging speeds.
Bump! I'm currently watching a Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Cradle Swing on eBay and wanted some feedback. Freya, did you have one? At what weight and age were your boys too big for the swing? Thanks.
