Question Baby monitors - which ones go long distance?

    Hello,
For DS, we borrowed a baby monitor which served us well as it was winter (so i stayed inside when DS slept) and really I just wanted it between our room and his room which was all of a few meters. But with no 2 on the way and due in summer, I am thinking that a monitor that would work outside the house when the baby was sleeping in their room would be great.

We live in the country on a big block, and I'm expecting that DS will want to be outside and I need to supervise. So I'm going to need something with a good range (eg 25mt) that goes through walls etc.

Does any one have good experiences with monitors that work well indoors to outdoors - or what to stay away from??

    Thanks
    FG

We have a Phillips (were given it but i think i have the manual somewhere). I can take it to the back of the block which is over 40 metres from the base and have constant reception.

We have an oricom digital, we were able to go out to the home office or our neighbours so through two buildings and it works fine.

Another vote for the Oricom digital here....it hs an amazing range and a very clear signal with no interference...I think we have the oricom 500 from memory....it also has a temperature sensor and it will beep to tell you if baby's room gets too hot or too cold (you set the temp range you want and if goes outside that range it lets you know). The top model also has a video function but we didn't feel the need for that!

Avent Philips one here. Great range. Shop assistant said this one never gets returned whereas some of the cheaper ones are often brought back for exchange.

We have a fisher price dual monitor and it has a range of 200m... clear as day and heaps of frequencies for if you had neighbours to consider....

Thanks everyone- gives me a great starting point. I was afraid that there was going to be nothing that would do the job but clearly there is!

Oricom digital too - ours works in our nextdoor neighbours house. I ran over to borrow some potatoes while the girls were sleeping, with the monitor in my hand and left it on their bench accidently. My neighbour didn't realise until she heard babies crying and me talking to them

I just worked out that I can get the oricon and the philips on credit card points - yeah - can save some $$!
