    Carseats and hatchbacks

I have a 92 corolla hatchback and I don't think I'll be able to fit a carseat to it, unless someone knows differently. So I've been thinking of upgrading to another corolla hatchback maybe an edge. Can you fit a baby capsule into a hatchback? Most of the ones I've seen say not to be fitted into a hatchback.

Does anyone have a corolla fitted with a baby capsule?

I have a 2003 Corolla Hatch but I don't have a capsule persay in it - I have a reversible carseat. It is the Safe N Sound Meridian and is behind the passenger seat. In all honesty - whilst it fits it is a tight fit and the front passenger seat does look a bit uncomfortable but I have sat there and it doesn't feel uncomfortable - just looks it.

I really do wish I had a bigger car - and that is only with one baby - if and when we have number 2 we will definitely be getting a much bigger car.

But yep the carseat does fit in the reversed position and will also fit (much better I think) when DD goes forward facing. I am not sure how a capsule differs from a reversible carseat though

Mum used to have a 90 corolla hatch & I put DD1's capsule in there a few times. Had to be in the middle though, otherwise the seats would have to be right forwards.

Dh had a 1990 Laser hatchback & we had capsules & carseats in there ok, not sure if there is a difference in the actual cars themselves though?
Our anchor point was on the floor in the back (boot) so you couldn't have the cover bit up, if that makes sense.

We have a 2006 Corolla Sportivo and like TK never used a capsule, but a reversible car seat. - We have a safe n sound Compaq Deluxe and this was the only one that fitted comfortably without the passenger seat having to be crammed right forward. - ALL of the baby shops i went to ( and i went to HEAPS!) all recommended the Compaq Deluxe for hatchbacks. - Maybe take your car to a baby bunting store (or similar) as i was able to test it out and see if it fitted.

All of the above is now obsolete though as we got a new car a month ago and now DH drives the Corolla and i drive the new car with bubs in it

My carseat (infant reversible) says cannot be installed in a hatchback with a split rear seatback as the straps can fall down the split, rendering it unsafe... We've got a Getz hatchback with a third/two thirds split, so we just put the seat on the side with more back, and it's far enough away from the split that it's not an issue. We did need a tether extension to get it to reach to the anchor point in the boot though.
