If your MIL got the car seat in the Target baby sale that was on recently it is probably the Safe-n-Sound Guardian (Pepper Grey) convertible car seat.


Probably worth a google so you can get an idea of what it looks like !?

If she got it from Target you shouldn't have any issues returning it. I have returned a couple of things to Target even without the receipt recently and so long as it is something that they stock they are happy to do it (although seem happier when there isn't a long line at the Service Counter IYKWIM)

Then you can have the one you want and have some spending money at Target. I am guessing that the liklihood of her seeing it in your car is slim - maybe if you got the meridian in a similar colour she would never even notice if she did ever see it.

Or just tell her straight that it isn't the one that you wanted - and you have done all the safety research etc - and you are happy to make up the $ difference.
