Question Do you put an underlay with a bassinet?

Title pretty much covers it I think .....

Also which side of the bassinet mattress do you have facing up - the mesh side or the sheet type side which looks like it has joins on it to take the mesh cover on and off?

    TIA

What type of underlay do you mean? A sheepskin one or a waterproof one? Sorry, I'm a bit slow today!

I would say mesh side up with the mattress. All the ones I've sold have come in with the mesh side up

my mattress was all covered with same material, i put a mattress protector on then the sheet, then a territowling nappy so if bubs chucked I didnt need to change full cot in middle of the night.

I went one step further than feeb, and had mattress protector, then toweling nappy, then sheet, then another toweling nappy.... but my DS was a spewer, so the nappies really saved me a lot of bother in the early days.

    Thanks heaps guys ....

Where is the easiest and cheapest place to get a mattress protector from? Not feeling too much like trekking around at the moment.

Maybe Big W? I'm not 100% sure if they do bassinette sized ones though. If you're driving near Forest Hill I'll give you one

I might pop down to the local Kmart tomorrow. I know how ridiculous this sounds but anything further than FTG at the moment feels like the moon

My bassinette just arrived this morning and I was having the same thoughts, lol. No idea which way the mattress is supposed to go.
I don't think I've seen bassinette sized matress protectors before so when you find one let me know where you got it Dee!!
Great tips in here guys! Will save me some hassles no doubt.
