    Does 2 cars = 2 car seats?

I was wondering what people do when they have 2 cars? Do you buy 2 car seats or do you just get 1 for the car you use the most? I want a Safe & Sound Meridian but don't want to buy 2 of them as they're pricey! Any opinion appreciated.

We have 2 cars but are only getting 1 carseat. Too expensive to ahve two. We are putting it in our camry as it is a bigger, safer car than the mirage.

it will depend on how often the other car gets used, and how often you migth get left with no carseat in your car

my bro started out with only one carseat, and after his wife had to call me more than once for a ride as he'd taken the car with car seat, they ended up having them in both cars....

it's a personal choice really, and one you have to work out yourself - would your DH take the car with the carseat often and leave you at home? if you go out as a family do you use the same car you use on your own during the week...? if you have a primary car and a secondary one, maybe get your Meridian for that one, and something like the Fisher Price one that was on spesh at target recently for the second car (half price, 149.50 - you might still be able to get it tomorrow , no deposit layby...)

my mum is getting the cheap one for her car so that she can take me places without playing musical car seats or expecting me to drive us all the time...

We have 2 cars, 3 children.
3 car seats in my car
2 car seats in DH's car.....that way if i get stuck, car gets stuck etc, there is always DH car and DD (5yrs4mths) can just sit in the back with seatbelt.

I dont know how i managed with so many car seats, but for me, i paid someone to install the maxiriders in my car, i wasnt going to risk ever taking them out so my mum, or DH can fit them in their car should the occasion arise...i know, know, know, i would never get it to fit as good as 'they' fitted it. I got my other 'cheapies' on ebay. I know there are a lot of shonks on there that sell dodgy car seats, but these were 2-3 years old, lookd in good nic, and i only paid $50 and $65 respectively......

    Thanks for the advice girls.

Yes I should add that my car is the primary car. I only drive this one & it's what we always use when we're out together. DH's car is a manual which I am unable to drive!! I guess I'm concerned if I go out he will be left at home with bubs & no car seat.

This maybe sound really negative, but i always think 'what if i have to rush to hospital '.....and i didnt have my car, and DH car didnt have the carseats in it !!! Just a thought. Its still early days, maybe just keep your eyes out for cheapo ones, or just have a browse on ebay, you maybe surprised....

    Good luck !

We ended up getting 2 car seats. One for DH's car and one for mine. We justified it to ourselves by saying we would have a second baby and then both would go in "the family" car and DH would take the smaller run about which currently I drive. So we have the convenience of 2 at the moment and then don't have to buy another one once #2 decides to come along until DS grows out of it (which should be a while).

while in reverse we only have the one car seat. But as I was working before I had this bub, we had two a maxi rider and boster in one car, and sns (cant rember name) car seat and another boster in the other car due to we would quiet often do drop of and pick ups from childcare and before and after school care so needed them in both and did not know who would be doing what half the time.

We have 2 cars and only 1 car seat for each child. DH uses one car primarily for work and the other car we use as a family car and i use during the day with the kids.
