I've been doing a fair bit of double pram research, and I am a little annoyed by the lack of availability of double side by side 'jogger' prams which allow for both a mother-facing bassinette & an outwards facing toddler - simultaneously.
The Mountain Buggy double and Adventure Buggy double look like great quality prams, however you only have the choice of having either 2 bassinettes for newborns, or two outward facing seats - great for twins, but not for a newborn and toddler. I know that these prams do accomodate for a newborn, but I had DS face me in bassinette mode in the early months and I loved it. Even now his pram seat is still reversable and we change direction quite regularly so I am accoustommed to this function. I don't like how the MB & AB prams don't allow for this option.
So I have started looking at European prams - and they have so much more flexibility!!
No doubt they are expensive and would cost a heap to ship, but I am really desperate to purchase a double pram for outdoor use which has the following features;
- Large 'jogger' front & back wheels (4 wheeler for stability as the pram will be wide).
- Takes a mother-facing newborn bassinette at the same time as a regular pram seat (preferably both reversable so you can change the direction of either.)
I have looked at the Firstwheels twin, which has the option of taking both bassinette and a regular seat - each reversable. However the front wheels are small, there are limited colour options avail in Aust and there are 2 small baskets underneath instead of one large basket - not really very convenient for stashing larger items.
Other European double jogger prams which take a mother-facing bassinette simultaneously with a regular stroller seat (that I have come across) include;
- Emmaljunga Twin Cangaroo (Sweden)
- Easy Walker Duo (Netherlands)
- Teutonia Team Alu S4 (Germany) - this one can even reverse the direction of the older bubs/toddlers once they are sitting upright in stroller mode!
So I guess my question is - does anyone have one of these pram models and can you give me any recommendations/pros and cons? I would love to hear some feedback!!
I guess these prams are hard to come by in Aus... as I feared. Oh well.
I have written to Mountain Buggy and Adventure buggy - saying that they need to work on an updated model which offers the above features, so that we parents in the southern hemisphere can enjoy the same flexibility as parents in the northern hemisphere!!
I saw a pram the other day which had the bassinette with the toddler facing forward, I'm almost certain it was a mountain buggy (at least it looked like one - unless there's also another pram which looks really similar) because I was looking at them before Elijah was born but we didn't end up getting a double pram at all in the end.
how come come you can't have one basinette in the mountain buggy?
i've actually got a mountain buggy but didn't bother with the basinette, but i thought for sure that it was a possibility if you wanted to.
Try Baby Jogger. They have double prams and you *may* be able to attach the bassinet with one stroller side still facing forwards. We have the City Elite single pram with the bassinet attachment and you can clip it in with the normal stroller seat attached or detached.
