    "Features fixed side rails"

I'm finding it odd the number of cots that now have fixed side rails. How do you put the baby in and out without killing your arms/back?

Am I the only one who finds this completely impractical?

Another reason to buy a king size bed so we can fit everyone in

Is that for both sides??!! If so, that is nuts. I am only 5ft 2 inc and I wouldn't be able to put a baby in & take them out of the cot without being able to drop the sides.

Yep both sides, one site I was looking at 99% of their cots didn't have a drop side...

So annoying! I can only just put DD2 in with the side down! I'd have no hope.

I've been trying to work out why.

Some of them it's purely because of design/materials but most there's no reason not to have one, what could you possibly gain from no drop sides?

Or maybe I'm putting far too much thought into such things

I used a step when ds needed the rail up because if i put him in the cot, then put the rail up he would wake up... i left it down until he needed it up too... Wonder how you'd do it with a pregnant belly too if you had one still in the cot.

I love our cot, was from babies r us maybe check them out, we have the cot that turns into a little toddler bed, though i couldnt figure out how that worked lol DS went straight to his big car bed at 22 months

I read an article last year (I think) I think about drop side cots being banned in the US. I think it was because their safety standards aren't as high as Aus and there were injuries (maybe deaths) from drop side cots.

I'd buy it... I never drop the side and it just annoys me how it rattles...

    But I'm 5'9" so I don't have a height issue...
