Good stroller for travel - advice, please

    Hi all,

I am taking bub home to UK for 6 weeks in July/August and don't want the airlines to wreck my pram on the way. We will be doing a few flights in the UK and Europe during the time, so I would quite like something cheap that if they do wreck it, it's OK. Bub will be exactly 6 months at the time we set off. But although I'd like something cheap and light, which fold up easily, I'd like it to sturdy enough wheels to be able to take her out for walks so that I can walk off all the cups of tea and biscuits I'll consume while we're there

I was thinking I could buy on eBay UK and get my Mum to pick it up so that we have it on arrival and use the Baby Bjorn from Sydney to London. Or I could get it here. Or could buy new umbrella stroller and cross fingers that it survives all the journeys and would then have it in the future for use back here.

Anyway - can anyone recommend any good brands that I can look out for?
    Would really appreciate the help,
    Thanks!

I have been researching for a compact stroller for a while, and the best I have found - both economically and compact is the quicksmart easy fold stroller. the fold down to the size of cabin luggage, and come with a bag. you can find them on ebay - often brought for exactly the same reason you are looking, so they have barely been used. they have a website under quicksmartbaby . hth.

love the mclaren too but bit pricey to be taking on planes.....

Have you thought about hiring in UK? i know here in sydney there are great facilities for people visiting etc to hire baby items - prams, strollers, high chairs, portacots etc. Could you get you mum to investigate ?

Good luck - how exciting...i loved the UK......

Thank you! I'll have a look into those two, as well as hiring. You can definitely hire car seats for next to nothing, so will see if strollers too. Thanks again!

We have the Quicksmart as we went to Perth earlier this year and heading off to Thailand next week. It has been fantastic although can be a bit tricky to fold at times (however, I'm not generally good with those sorts of things so most thhing are hard for me to fold ). Anyway while we aren't travelling it folds into the footwell behind the seat in the car so I don't have to take the big pram in the car at all.

At the airport in Perth DD slept in the stroller waiting for the plane and we put it in the backpack and carried it on as hand luggage. It made things so much easier. Oh and we got ours second hand on eBay.
