    Hammock

We have purchased a hammock for our 4 month old. She is a figety little bubs at night and we are hoping that the movement of the hammock as she moves will help her self settle as opposed to me having to rock her for hours

Anyone have a hammock. Positive/negative experiences that you wish to share?

    TIA

Hi. We had an amby hammock and DS loved it. To be honest, we didn't use it much as I was quite scared about the DS's posture and thought the bassinet would be safer for SIDs etc. But I still used the hammock for day sleeps and had it set up in the lounge room. I'm not sure if I will use it for the next baby or not...

I bought an Amby baby hammock when my DS1 was 10 weeks old. He was an unsettled bub who would only sleep during the day in my arms. The first time I put him in it he slept for 2 hours! It was awesome . It is definitely worth giving it a try

I inherited a Natures Sway hammock for my DD1 after seeing firsthand the success it had with a few friend's babies. It was, hands down, the most awesome piece of baby equipment we owned.

I handed it back to my friend for her second baby and loaned it again for DD2. That hammock had now been successfully used for 5 babies, soon to be another.

My two DD were completely different sleepers, one slept like a dream anywhere I put her and the other would only sleep in my arms or in the hammock. They both loved it and I did too, loved rocking them back to sleep at night without having to get out of bed, loved being able to move it around, loved the look of them all snuggled up in the cocoon of fabric and loved the way the both just relaxed into it as soon as they hit it.

DD2 went into it a bit later than DD1, mainly because I forgot I had it! But just like Trish she had the longest sleep of her life the first time I put her into it!

They were both in the hammock for about 8 months each. DD1 was moved as she wanted to roll over, DD2 was moved as she was trying to stand up in it, and did manage it at one point but both transitioned to the cot really well at that stage.

Hope you find yours as good as I found mine!

No, don't put bubs on their side. There is a risk they will roll onto their tummy which would not be safe.

    Good luck with it!

My DD2 loves the Amby. Won't sleep unless being held all day and then goes down easily at about 7pm and doesn't stir until a midnight feed. It's fantastic!

We had a Hushamok... it was pretty good. Nothing amazing though, didn't make her sleep any better than usual.

I love our baby hammock. We have a Natures Sway one and DD2 is about 14mths old and still in it. Truthfully I don't know how to get her out of it lol. I got it when she was about 8-9mths old cause she wouldn't sleep unless we were sitting on the lounge holding her, she wouldn't even co-sleep, it was a nightmare. She slept in the hammock straight away with no problems, it was heaven lol.

I brought one off ebay that had no brand for DS and didn't use it many time, it was terrible . He just didn't lay right and it didn't look safe and since getting the natures sway one, I can see there is so much difference between the two.

Lots of the eBay hammocks are dodgy They're not as well made as the established brands.

I'd stick with the established brands too. Like car seats really - safety is worth it.
