A CHILD suffered bruised legs and another was found with a detached snap lock in its mouth from high chairs that are being recalled by Swedish-based homeware store Ikea.
The furniture giant has announced a global recall of 5474 high chairs of the Leopard model due to safety concerns.
In Australia, Ikea has reported 11 incidents of broken snap locks and is telling customers who bought the high chair to stop using it immediately and return it to the store for a full refund.
It says snap locks that secure the seat to the frame can break, making it possible for the seat to drop through the frame.
"Children can suffer injury to the head and other parts of the body from falls, and detached snap locks pose a choking hazard to children,'' Ikea says on its website.
"Ikea has received 11 reports of broken snap locks, including one incident where the seat with child dropped through the frame - the child suffered bruised legs.

Comment was not immediately available from Ikea's Melbourne store.
