You wont find a car seat that will go from birth to 7.
We have a Meridian that is birth to 18 kg (12kg rear facing). When DS2 was due we got DS1 a maxirider which is 8kg up to 26 kg.
Just wondering if such a seat exists?
We're in the market for a new seat and thought rather than buy a car seat and then a booster later on there might be one that meets both needs.
I'm aware of the maxi rider however am not keen on this as it can't go rear facing.
Any info would be appreciated![]()

We just bought a Infa Secure Comfi Cruiser which is from 8kg/when you want to put them forward facing/6months to 7 years.
The new meridians actually go by height, once they get to a certain height you are supposed to change them over, which for us was around 8.5 months :/ (and we by no means are tall, very average!) the only consolation to that is when the meridian is FF, there are 2 reclining levels, 1 being normal FF, the second being nearly rear facing position when they're actually sitting in it.
It's a good seat, but I really wish we hadve known that the height restriction means we had to turn the seat far earlier than if we had the weight restriction seat because we wouldve tried to get the older version
Yep, you can get a birth - 4 years or a 12 months - 7 years seat but not one that goes all the way.
Yeah the new height thingy applies to all new carseats I think Hope. Which is a pain I agree. I grow them tall here so I won't be able to keep DS2 rearward facing for as long as I'd like - I'm sure he'll hit the height limit pretty quickly.
Yes, you are going to need to get 2 seats im afraid, there isnt one that goes from birth to 7 yrs, unless you buy one from overseas but doing that it wont apply to australian standards so i dont recommend doing this.
