Im looking for a nappy bag that will be big enough for a cloth bummed (mcn) bub to be out all day, room for my wrap carrier, spare clothes, couple of spew rags, wipes, food, phone, wallet, keys. A small blanket and whatever else I have forgotten.
Problem is I dont want to spend more than $100 and I dont want it to fall apart on me.
Ive been looking online and like the look of the Skip Hop Duo Deluxe and a couple of others but they all seem a bit small according to the measurements on the site.
Like HotI, I would just shop around for regular bags. I found a massive shoulder bag at Sportsgirl for $70 when DD was little & I used that. It fit everything in it for 2 kids for a whole day including cloth nappies/wipes/wet bag etc, two changes of clothes & lunches & drinks plus my stuff. It was fantastic. It had extra pockets on the outside so you could little things in there without them getting lost.
A normal backpack will do the trick fine, tends to be cheaper than bags marketed as 'nappy bags', many have lots of pockets and compartments and SO much easier to have it on your back when you need your hands free for little people.
I got mine from Kathmandu on sale. It's not über stylish, but it's practical and has lasted really well.
Not sure how much the Lubelle bags are - check them out online.... But they're gorgeous! I know they were a whole lot cheaper than the Oi Oi I bought for DS though, lol!
I am a backpack user too. I never bothered with a nappy bag - I just appropriated a bag of DH's as a fill in measure and nearly 6 years on I am still using it.
The Lubelle beach bag could be exactly what Im looking for JLeigh! Thank you! Will keep looking but so far that is the top pick! If I wait a couple of days I can get a free nappy wallet with it too.
I need to be able to do back carries too. I was looking for a back pack with a shoulder strap but cant find any in my price range.
We use a sturdy backpack that's more that 10 years old. I have a baby carrier but I use a thin cloth bag with a long strap to store that in. I find that even with a big bag I can only fit 2-3 mcn's in the bag with spare clothes though. So I often leave extras in the car and have a couple of disposables just incase.
The brand of backpack we have is a carabee.
Glad I could help. Was going to mention the freebie too, but wasn't sure when it was on She's actually a friend, but I didn't even know she did this - she didn't ever mention it! When I saw these bags, I wished I'd gotten one for DS...got quite a shock when I saw who made them, lol!
I got given an isoki convertible 3 in 1 slouch bag. It's a shoulder bag, backpack or across the body. It's very pretty with black & white pattern. I'm not sure what the dimensions are, you'd have to google. I don't use it and will be selling it as I prefer the el cheapo back pack lol.
NicNac carry all! $90, but often on sale, aussie owned business (can't remember if they'e made here or not) not too nappy-y, but still really really practical. And amazing service. My first one was looking a bit ratty after a year, so they gave me a new one for free! More than a year on, the new one is looking great - they fixed up the old problems they were having.
I got a navy blue nylon/polysomething/vinyl one from Big W for $24.
It fits everything, still well stitched and zippers are fine, and we've been using it since May 2010.
I would have preferred a red Vanchi, but at the end of the day it just has to do the job. We went with boring and cheap. There's ages for me to have beautiful handbags when we've got more money
Thanks ladies! I think Im going to go with the Lubelle beach bag. Its big, and currently they have free postage and a free nappy wallet with it - all for $55. Its also not too girly or handbag-y for DF but still "pretty" enough.
