    Medela Swing or Electric ??

I am looking at buying a Medela pump for this baby. I used the Avent manual with the last, and while it was okay for the occasional express, it got tiresome using the manual frequently and for larger volumes. I am looking at something that capable of expressing more and easier to do so.

The research I have done suggests Medela brand but Does anyone have experience with the electric Medala's?? I am interested to know everyones thoughts on this brand and any others?

i have the medela swing and find it quite easy to use and pretty efficient. not sure if you're looking at occassional pumping (as i'm doing at the moment) or more regular - but for what we're using it, it's fine... i will be returning to work in the new year (sigh) and will be using it at work as well as home - and it is portable enough for this so i'm happy with it

I've got the electric Avent one and I love it. I express most days (when DS has slept through and I have too much milk for him) and find it really easy, there is no way I could do it or bother to get as much as I do with a manual. Don't know too much about the medella ones, but I would highly recommend getting an electric.

I have a medela swing and I love it... I was initially using it for full time expressing (when DD was in hospital and those first few weeks) and it held up to it quite easily. I would rinse the attachments under hot soapy water between each express session and then 'sterilise' them by boiling them in hot water for 5mins every other day.

You can get a attachment from chemists or the ABA so that it can be a double expresser but I didn't use it that way - I only used it as a single side expresser.

It has 2 cycles - a stimulation cycle and then a express cycle (probably not the techinical terms but that is what I called them) - overall it is definitely worth the $$$
