Did you have a cradle for your baby?

I have seen some beautiful cradles for babies and just wondering how much use you got out of it. I would love to have the cradle in our bedroom to make feeding at night easier and a safe place for baby to sleep as DD is often on our bed.

How long was your baby in it?

    TIA

We have the boori Matilda cradle. LOVE it. It's a horizontal gliding cradle so it's a really smooth rock and it non tip!
It's also quite large and can normally take a bub till about 6 months (so I am told) dd is in there now and she sleeps great. I'm finding it good for settling.

I have a King Parrot bassinet. It's not a cradle but as big as one. DD2 is still in it at 5.5 months, and I have no plans to stop using it unless she magically learns to sit up lol. She doesn't even roll yet so it's all good. I love it. I'm so not a frilly bassinet person so it suits me, plus the kids love that they can see her or get her out in DD1s case.

I only had one for dd3. I brought it second hand because everyone made me feel bad for wanting one after I'd made do for three other bubs.

I got a boori one that matched my cot. I loved it and used it heaps. It was large so dd spent a long time in it

We got a hammock instead. One of the best baby buys I made.

I had an arms reach co-sleeper. If you want a good nights sleep that's the way to go.

We love our king parrot bassinet that was next to our bed for 8mths until she grew too big. It was sad when she grew out of it!!

Both my boys were in the same one for about 6 months. I think Buster could've stayed in it much longer but the cot was available so we put that in our room instead.

I borrowed one from a friend for our DD - she was in it for about 14 weeks then I t'fred her to her cot in her room.

This time I have purchased a second hand timber rocking craddle off eBAY for $60. I purchased a new mattress ($30), so I think it was a good buy. I'll pass it onto my sister or brother when they have kids.

I loved the craddle b/c I could wheel it to DD room during the day for day sleeps as her room was closest to the kitchen & lounge then wheel her down at night time to our room.

We bought a cradle and a cot (and a breadmaker and jaffle maker) from the local recycling centre for $45 all together. DP made a frame for it to lift it to a good height for us, and I sanded and painted it, and it looks awesome. We hope to get 6 month use out of it (until baby can potentially climb/fall out) in our room, before we decide if baby goes into the cot in the nursery or the cot comes into our room (a tight fit.)

We didn't want to spend a fortune on a new one, knowing that it would only get 6 months of use, but at the same time, wanted baby in our room as per SIDS guidelines.

Cradle for DD who stayed in it for around 10 weeks - we got it for $20 on ebay!! Our best buy was like Onyx, Amby hammock for DS, he slept in it from 3 weeks to 11 mths! Was awesome and a lifesaver for a bubby who hated sleeping flat on his back.

Boori Matilda cradle for DDs 1and 2 and it was really good - could wheel it around to wherever suited me during the day, great for next to the bed at night. They were both in it for about 4 months.

DD3 has a hushamok hammock and it is sooooooooooooooooo good. Can give it a gentle kick or shove and it moves gently for ages. I also find that depending on her mood, Miss A may prefer swaying, swinging or jiggling

You could also just push the cot up against the bed, side-car style.
