Ive recently been thinking of getting a city select when bub comes, dd will be 13 months when this one is born. i have a 3 wheel valco with the todler seat already, i havent used it since dd was 5 months, i use the sroller as its not so bulky and i dont have to worry about getting a flat tyre, (amazingly happens alot!) while bub is nb i will have her in a carrier, but once she is 3 months ill want to have her in a pram, so need something with the 2 seats, i realy like the look of it and the diffrent ways you can position the 2 seats, as i would have to put it on laybuy, id like to know as much as possible!
do you have one?
are they worth the $$
what are the pros & cons?
I've got one! Haven't used it with the 2 yet, a few more months lol. Some observations so far. You have to use the capsule or bassinette until bubs is 6 months old as the seat is not designed for babies under this, so this limits your seating options and having the bassinette and seat makes it very big so I think I will be trying to get my hands on a capsule. Which will be easier anyway as you can transfer bubs without any fuss, but on the otherhand I've read its not good for babies to spend long periods of time in the capsules.
With the 2 seats on its awesome. I'm hoping DD will still want to be in the pram when I can use the 2 seats
Its much wider than I was expecting (but still not as wide as a strider). I bought mine of the net without seeing it IRL. I'm not dissapointed but it will take some getting used to cause it is much bigger and heavier than my Bertini.
DD fits in it well and she is much older than your DD, so I think you will get a lot of use out of it with the 2 of them.
Baby jogger are sneaky tho and nearly everything is an added extra!! Like rain covers, sun shades, bar etc.
Have you been to see one IRL?
I love mine, although also yet to use it a a double pram!
I have DS in the seat now and was very sad to see the bassinett go (It is not very big) I love the pram, it is big and bulky for little quick trips but is fantastic anyway and MIL thinks its the easiest pram to fold and put away (she has 13 grandchildren so she should know!)
Ours fits into our mazda 3 OK better with the seat now the bassinett has gone, i also disenble to the two
I hope you love it as much as we do, if you are on FB there is a baby jogger page with lots of tips and info.
As for a mozzie net/shade cover i have the snoozeshade which is great, I dont think you can get the baby jogger shade cloth as it doesnt meet Aus standards
I have a few friends who have it and love it!!! I had a look at it in the shops and it looked great, heaps better than my Phil & Ted. Sigh, but we cant get another double pram! Its cheaper on the net if you buy it there, the cheapest I found it this week while looking for the mothercare spin for my baby was $949 with double... I say its great!
I don't have one but was kind of interested in them too until I saw one IRL at the shops with two kids in.... It was MASSIVE! It looked like a bus! So that really turned me off them!
Really most doubles are huge. They need to be to take the weight of 2 kids. P&T aren't but for me personally I'm not a fan of 3 wheelers (tho I think they do have a new 4 wheeler out)
thanks for all the help!!
i would be using it from when bub is arround 2-4 months, as i like the carrier in the begining, i might have to find somewere that sells it and have a look, i go everywere by transport, so it would have to be easy to get on and off the bus.. as some of you have mentioned the size!! i dont have my licence and dosent look like ill have it anytime soon, so wouldnt realy have a use for the capsuel part i dont think. how wide is the wheels? would it fit up shopping isles and chekouts easy?
I like the fact that the city only comes in 4 wheeler as i was concerned about a three wheeler taking a weight load of two children!
I should also add that baby jogger Australia dont recommend buying from OS as the warreny is not valid here so it will cost more to send back OS for repair
I have one on layby - i cant wait to get it! I chose the Ruby Red colour although i do really love the Diamond colour too.
Did you know they are bringing it out in Amethyst!!
Has anyone used it for twins? This is the main pram we are looking at for when the twins arrive as the other ones we have been shown are too wide for our shops checkouts (we measured), too bulky, or have one child stuck behind the other one which we can see causing fights as they get older. We put the toddler (14 kg) in it and he looked quite comfy I must say.
The sales lady were trying to talk us out of it for the strider instead because unless you get the bassinet or capsule then the CS is not recommended for newborns because they dont lie completely flat? If anyone has used it for twins we would love to hear from you Thanks
I bailed up a random woman in the park the other day and although she only had one baby, she just had the newborn in the seat reclined as far as it went. Bubs looked very cosy as she just had one of those cushions that supported the baby. It looked good enough to me that we are definitely not buying the bassinet.
xox
How is the weight of this pram? I went to the baby shop and pushed it around and nearly died because it felt so heavy compared to my bugaboo..........now I am leaning back towards the donkey but I don't think it's even an option because it might not be released by the time we need it. Arrrrgghhhh!!
