Wanted - Nappy Bag that is practical but doesnt "look" like a Nappy Bag!!
Hi everyone,
I have been thinking about Nappy Bags and wonder if anyone can suggest some for me to check out. I am looking for a Bag that is not OTT in price but I would like something that is practical and looks good at the same time. I am keen on something that looks like an oversized Handbag rather than a sports back pack.
Ditto, I've been looking for ages, haven't found anything yet.
I did find someone online who was going to customise something for me (she makes nappy bags and handbags) but it would have cost $70 and I'm not working at the moment so couldn't justify it. Will be contacting her when I go back to work in a few months though. I find nappy bags even more annoying as bubs gets older (DS is almost 9 months) and you don't have to lug so much stuff around. I found with DD that after a few months an oversized handbag was good enough, as long as I could pop a few nappies and some wipes in there.
I went to Strandbags or one of those biggish handbag chains and bought a great over shoulder sack type bag and the beauty of it was having 2 zippered compartments so I would put Izzys stuff in one side and all my stuff in the other!! It was great until I need to start hauling around half a kitchen of snacks and food! Although I just ordered a Tupperware thing the other day that might let me use it again! It was black with leopard print lining and only cost around $30! Really, nappy bags are just big bags with lots of storage pockets and lots of handbags are like that if you look around! Good luck!
The OiOi Bags look like big handbags or satchels, they have a big range of styles, google them and you will find heaps of places who sell them. They can be a bit pricy but I picked mine up from Gear 4 Baby, cheapest price and I looked for a long time, but they have a more limited range, I got free shipping and they threw in a free mummy hook! It was delviered within a couple of days as well!
I have a great Nappy Bag - it's an oriental fabric a green with a pink through it. The brand is Vanchi and it is FABULOUS. It doesn't look nappy bagish but does all the nappy bag things. Has plenty of pouches and a change mat etc. Also has a separate compartment for my stuff. It was $120 from memory but well worth it.
I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but I have had two OiOi bags that have needed to be replaced because the plastic clip holding the strap to the bag has broken. So far I haven't had any problems getting them replaced (I think because it was originally bought at Myers and they have just replaced it each time), but it has now broken in exactly the same spot for the third time, which makes me wonder whether this is a problem that other people have also encountered.
They are a great bag, but I would not buy again because of the fault I have experienced.
One of my friends has bought a Kathmandu bag (might actually be a laptop bag but doesn't look like it IYKWIM) and it's really practical, heaps of pockets, hard wearing, wipes down easily and doesn't look TOO sporty (but is on the "practical" side of things i must admit).
Thank you for your help girls
