Ok, I think I have made up my mind to hire a capsule for bubba #2. After that I will have to buy another car seat. Any idea on some good but not too expensive seats that recline?
There is a baby love one, and the Infa Secure one that is like a Maxi Rider is good too. I has a slight recline so it is only if she puts her head forward that she will be leaning forward IYKWIM.
I would definetly look at one that converts from a car seat to booster seat to safe money in the long run, no need to buy a booster then. Eg sns maxi rider, infa The Racing Kid Booster Seat or The Secure Trek 8. There just the ones I know of.
we have a safe n sound maxi for DS#1 & it reclines to 2 positions & go's from 9kg right throught to 26kgs so as soon as you have returned the capsule bub can go into it.
They can be a bit expensive but if you are hiring a capsule then at least you have time to save or put one on layby at least
Does anybody know much about the Infa Secur? Optimus? I have seen it on the BigW site for $278. It goes from 8-18kg as a car seat, and from 14-26kg as a booster.
Oh cool Alioops! Just want to know whether it's a good seat. I don't want to just buy the cheapest (like last time lol). But I also don't want to spend up big just to get revolving cup holders. My car has a centre console thingy on the back seat which has cup holders anyway. An she can reach them from her seat.
Oh, and do you know what the difference between the Trek 8 and the Optimus is? I saw the Trek 8 for $249 BNIB on ebay. They have a shop near me.
ETA: Sorry, I have since googled it and it seems they are the same thing, it's just called differently at BigW. I might get it from the store nearby, as it comes with a sunshade thingy and seat protector mat and is still cheaper than the BigW version...

Mmmm, I just had a look at the Infa Trek and it only reclines a teeny tiny bit. I don't think it would be anough to make any difference... Might have to look at the SnS Maxi Rider and see how the recline is in that one.

Just a quick update, I did buy the Maxi Rider AHR. I do like the seat. But unfortunately, if she falls asleep, she still slumps forward. I guess she would do that in any of the convertible forward to booster seats. The Meridian reverse to forward convertible) has a much steeper recline and would probably have been the better choice, but wouldn't last her for nearly as long as the MR.
Thanks for the tip, Frank. How does the anti-submarining design stop the head from slumping forward? Doesn't it stop the child from slippinng down in the seat and consequently the seatbelt from crushing internal organs in the event of an accident?
Oh, and I tried the Maxi Cosi link which actually took me to a baby store and there was nothing on there about the new Maxi Cosi. Also, the Maxi Cosis I know from Europe have a rear-facing baby capsule that fits onto the travel system. But once the baby is too big for that, the travel system won't work anymore. Of course Maxi Cosi make other seats, too, but they won't fit into a travel system.
