    Shopping for Baby - Perth

We are going to be visiting Perth over the weekend and would love to check out some baby items, any ideas for where would be best to go on Monday (being a public holiday - eeeiik). We're staying around the city but will have a car.

Does Myer/David Jones have much in the way of nursery items/prams etc? We really just need to look at these sorts of things as haven't looked at anything at all yet.

public holiday in w.a hrmmmm i think u better ring the stores first as w.a dont really do Sunday trading nor public holiday trading as far as i am aware. Some complexes do do sunday trading i know that but u may need to ring first to see. btw i lives in Perth for 28 years

Myer does sell baby gear i know that

thanks squidipa, we will be there other days but i think monday will be the only day we'll have a proper chance to relax and browse, i guess it's no big deal we'll be down again in April

I think only the city i've found so far. Will be good though =)

Rockingham & Mandurah may be open this monday because my local shops are open this monday, but there's no myer or Djs, just target, kmart, big w.

There is literally nowhere in Perth City except target that has these things. I went looking for a stroller in Perth and neither Myer or DJs had any, they just don't stock baby stuff except clothes. I think you'd be far better off trying a shopping centre that has target, K-mart, big W or all three. Fremantle will probably be open on Monday and there's a pretty good target there (Better than the one in the city IMO). You might want to try some specialist baby shops too, there's a Baby On A Budget in Cannington (near Carousel shopping centre) that's quite good.

Check out the baby & kids market (google it) - might be one on a weekend convenient for you. They have heaps of second-hand stuff.

    Hi Ellee

Nothing will be open on Monday (besides the 'local' shops MummaB mentioned). Rockingham is a good 45 mins from the CBD and Mandurah is even further and I doubt either will be open on Monday. Your best bet is to shop on Saturday.

The CBD and Freo are the only areas open on Sunday and trading hours are from noon - 5pm. I live in Freo and there isn't really much in the way of baby shops except for Myer and Target. The city is about the same.

If you want a good shopping centre, I'd suggest Karrinyup (has DJ's, Myer and Big W), Innaloo (Target & KMart) or Garden City (DJ's, Myer and KMart). Karrinyup and Innaloo are north of the CBD (about 15 mins drive) and quite close to each other. Garden City is south, about 15-20 mins from the CBD. Public transport is not the best option so I'd suggest a taxi if you don't have a car.

The proper baby shops are scattered all over the place. Osborne Park (very close to Innaloo) has a couple and so does Myaree/Booragoon which is close to Garden City. They're generally situated with furniture shops, Bunnings, etc.

    HTH!

Perth sucks for shopping at the best of times! I work in Fremantle and its not open Mon public hol, as other girls have mentioned the only places open are Rockingham/mandurah which are at least half hr/45 mins from city and don't have as much choice as city stores. I would suggest relaxing on public hol!!

Thanks so much for all the info, i was able to have a check of this thread through my phone (still proud of myself for working that out!!), and saw that rockingham was open, so Monday we went for a drive and made our first purchases

Got a couple of suits, best and less was nice, a few muslim wraps, a pair of socks.

On Tuesday we had less than an hour but managed to go to babywest at cannington who was having a sale, although we weren't ready to make purchases yet was a good eye opener. My favourite purchase was maternity (body) pillow Also popped into toys'r'us and managed to get a swaddle wrap and a dummy that closes when dropped - look pretty cool.

We're heading back in about a month to have our 20wk scan so plan to make a few of the bigger purchases then.

Thanks again for all your help, info and suggestions
