    Singlets or....?

Hi, I've already got some singlets for when bubs arrives, but I keep reading that you can never have too many singlets. One thing I'm wondering though... is it better to get just the normal singlets, or are those singlet things that look like a normal singlet at the top but button up between the legs a better alternative? Do normal singlets just ride up under the baby's clothes?

for normal singets, best to get the next size up coz then they are longer and dont ride up as much. Body suits are good because they dont ride up. its really up to you.

I'm a big fan of singlet suits (the ones that do up at the crotch) so they don't ride up.

I never bothered with singlets, they are just a major PITBackside.
I used normal short bodysuits as singlets. The tighter ones work best as they still have that tight and stretchy fit, for warmth and or coolness, but singlets, i hate them!!

I found normal singlets irritated Jordy under the arms, so rompers definitely better for us

Thanks girls! It seems that there's obviously no wrong or right I guess I should stop worrying about it now and wait and see what works best for us. We already have an assortment of the normal singlets, singlet suits and the body suits, so once bubs comes I can always work out our preference and send DH out to do a little shopping. He already loves buying stuff for the baby so I'm sure it won't be a "chore" for him

if you use modern cloth nappies, the singlet suits with the snaps under the crotch, don't fit right over the nappy.

my nb was in mostly singlets and nappy for her first two summers (at home).

you'll prolly get given singlets too, it's a popular thing with baby gifts (teddies and singlets, we got heaps given).

within a short time of bubs arriving, just by putting clothes on them daily, you'll soon work out
    - what fits them best
    - what is easiest for YOU to get on and off them easily
    - which brands wash up nice and stay soft
that practical experience informs your buying choices, really fast.

up til size 0 i prefered the singlet suits with the buttons for the same reasons as Sarah H
This one will be in MCN though so who knows - Gigi do you think going a size up would work?

I too am big fan of the suits (that button up), I have however on really cold days put a singlet under this suit, this is the only time I will use singlets as I hate them riding up, especially when DD is young and not yet mobile, I think once DD is walking I may use singlets.

... how many time can I say singlets! It started to look like I was spelling it wrong.

rayray - if you can afford it, there are a few sites around that sell singlets and stuff for cloth-bottoms.
I got a few short-sleeved snap-ups and they are the best I've found for MCN. Bond's easy-suits I've found are hideous for Pip with his MCN!

    but trial & error ...

not sure rayray, cos it might help for the bottom end, but maybe too big at the top end? dunno, i'm just surmising here.

i'd be asking Kazbah, where she got the ones that are generous enough for a mcn butt (if i was you).

i liked the t-shirt fabric wraps for wrapping my winter bub. wish i had tried those swaddleme ones, idea sounds great. cos the doing them up part, is the tricky bit. so much easier to make knots in thin fabric like muslin.

when bilby outgrew all the usual wraps, we swapped to sarongs and cot sheets - that worked really well.

the next stage was the zip up sleeping bags (but not the polar fleece ones - they were awful on my bub, she was saturated in sweat after only a short time in those). they may look cute and fluffy, but watch your baby, some bubs OVERHEAT in them, and that is dangerous. (they dehydrate as a result).

KrystieLove - you're making me all clucky! wish i had a newborn to wrap up again!
