Steelcraft Strider Deluxe out in September

I went for a bit of a wander on my lunch break and popped into YCN for a browse. I've been doing my research really early on (like a year ago!) into prams, and have had my eye on the Steelcraft Strider for some time.

So I was having a chat with a shop assistant, and she told me that Steelcraft are bringing out a Strider Deluxe next month. I think it's being released on the 17th. It's going to be $100 more than the regular Strider (not sure what extra you get for your money), and will come in the 3 and 4 wheel models. It's going to come in Black, Red, Toffee, and Kingfisher (blue).

Warning: TreeTops babble ahead, not really Strider-related........
Three and a half weeks after my miscarriage a friend announced she was 11 weeks pregnant. She's due a day after I would have been. We haven't told our friends about the m/c, so it's been pretty tough listening to them all talking with excitement to this girl about her pregnancy. Then the other day her husband told me they'd bought the Strider in Slate, which is just the colour I wanted. They went for the 3, and I wanted the 4, but it still peeved me. So now I'm pleased, we can get the deluxe version, in a different colour. I'm hoping Toffee is nice. Of course it's still a few months before we go pram shopping

No, she didn't know what the difference was. She said she'd been on their website and they didn't have any info. I was also looking on their website about a week ago after I discovered the Strider Take 2 in a shop, and found that there was no mention of the Take 2 on there, plus they still have the Seaspray colour and not Pebble. Grrrrr, hate out-of-date websites....need to feed obsession

Do you like your Strider fionas?

Yep, I've been very happy with it. Love the fact that we can do rear or front facing. Loved the fact that you can get a bassinette. Love the fact that it's really easy to fold (important for a completely unco person like me). Love the fact that it's so light. Love the fact that baby is high up.

The only tiny things that they could improve for me would be: a) move the brake so it's not down low next to the wheel (but I have pelvic instability which means raising my foot off the floor and clicking the brake on and off was tricky) and b) possibly make the seat fully reclinable (though DD slept in the completely upright position the other day so it doesn't seem to bother her too much) and c) possibly the wheels (we've had no problem with them but I'd prefer it if they were a bit springier).

But I'd definitely buy another Strider. Excellent value for money IMO.

I have a Strider too and I love mine for all the same reasons as Fiona We got the bassinette attachment too and are still using it. DS sleeps in it all the time! I'm putting off moving off the bassinette into the stroller, it means DS is growing up :P lol

Fantastic, thanks girls. I was also looking at the Valco Rad today, it looks like it's got narrower back wheels, but I'm not too keen on it given some of the reviews on the Product Review website, plus I've heard pneumatic wheels can be a problem. Plus it's more expensive.

TreeTops, I have a Quinny Buzz which is very similar. You could have something very close to what you wanted and what your friend has but even better!

I went to the Baby Expo in Perth and the new strider dlx was on display. Im holding off buying a pram and I'm waiting for it to be released even though my baby is due very soon.

I was told it will be $599 rrp. It comes with a footmuff, sun shade and PVC cover. The plastics are pthalates free.

You can buy a bassinet and also an infant carrier/car seat for the pram. Both are suitable from birth to 9kg. I dont plan to buy these but I am prepared to pay the extra $ for this model since the Kingfisher colour is to die for!

You can email custserv@britax.com.au and ask for a brochure to be sent via the post.

TreeTops - just wondering whether your brochure ever arrived?
I am looking at this stroller becuase I want something where I can transfer the car capsule to the stroller - do any of the previous models do that or only the new deluxe? $599 seems a lot to justify to DH when we have an emmaljunga sitting at home - but I need something more compact with larger basket space!

    Raquel, thanks for that info.
I emailed britax a few weeks ago and asked if they made a sunshade cover for the strider to which they told me they didn't and said I would just have to go buy a general one fits all, one.

We didn't bother with the bassinet for our strider. We got the foot muff, and that seems to keep DS nice and snug and tight in there.

    Thanks for the brochure Treetops
There are a lot more pics. in there than on the website so you get a good idea of how it looks in all different configurations etc.

No worries. Yeah, the website's not great. It's laid out really weirdly, and I keep getting password prompts.

Can anyone tell me if the Deluxe Strider is the new one with the toddler seat?

Hi Katiegirl, I think you're thinking of the Strider Take 2. It comes in Slate only, and the seat isn't reversible. It takes a toddler seat.

The DLX doesn't take a toddler seat as far as I know.

    steelcraft strider

basic differences with the delux and normal strider are:
strider dlx - capsule option, comes with footmuff, sunshade and raincover, the hood also has an extra bit u can unzip to allow airflow through and i think the materials are better quality.

ive only seen the dlx in a four wheeler not sure if it comes in a three wheeler... however i was told at 'your childs nursery' that the three wheeler strider is being discontinued and hence they are coming down in price.

My baby is almost four months old and ive just purchased a red strider dlx (at this stage have not bought the capsule or bassinette as he will out grow it anyway will wait until possible baby two and hopefully they will be cheaper then). i totally love it! its so easy to push and fold down. i did have a babylove four wheeler with travel system which im planning on selling and its much lighter than this. Oliver loves it to - feel asleep while i was figuring out the straps and making them the right size for him.
