We have the angelcare one and love it. There are many out there that will tell you not to do it, and most medical professionals say not to, but I couldn't have lived without it. We have had a few "false alarms" although they all seemed to happen within a 2 week period and in retrospect I wonder if DS was holding his breath/having little breathing issues and the alarm started him breathing again.

My attitude is ok, it may not stop something from happening but it can't hurt to try..

thanks, i think that too.. i know it cant stop the inevitable if it were to happen but at least i know ive done everything??

we already have a monitor, are you just able to buy the pads? i know you can with the oricom one (to match my monitor - lame i know! but im like that) and its like $250! dh would flip out!
baby not due until sept i might just keep stalking on ebay.. im not into buying 2nd hand stuff like that incase there happens to be a fault, you know?

I wouldn't think you could just buy and add the pads, unless the monitor is marketed that way and has the capability to "upgrade" as it's a whole extra bit of technology. I agree they are quite expensive - the Angelcare one for us was I think close to $300. We'll prob get another one for this bub as we are keeping DS in his cot for a while.

Yeah keep looking at the sales, you may get lucky!
