Stroller dilema!! Need a single now but a double in 6 months
Hi All,
I have a dilema!!!
DD is 13 months and I need a lighter stroller now for her. Problem is that bub is due in July and then I'll need a double.
My thinking is this. Buy a single stroller now, then a double when bub comes. Use the double until the toddler doesn't need a stroller anymore then put bub in the single.
Or I could go for some thing like a Phil and Teds that has everything in one.
Although there are certain things that I don't like about a Phil and Teds. Like one baby is in front of the other and the toddler doesn't have a sun shade over it's head whilst in the toddler position and if the bub is down the bottom then their feet are in the shopping basket area.
I have a Phil & Teds e3 with the double kit and I could not imagine what I would do without it. I don't have a car during the day so it's my vehicle. My little ones don't seem to have a problem with it either. I agree about the lack of shade for the child on the back but I bought a shade cover and just do it up so it covers the back part only. I do sometimes have a problem with the little ones feet in the basket especially when I have bread in there (squash) but it is a pretty large basket and her feet don't get cramped. The only real problem with the e3 is that it can be quite heavy to push with both of them in it and it doesn't have a hand brake. I beleive that the new dash version does though.
I have a click on toddler seat that is universal and makes it a side-by-side. This is probably not the cheapest option but I really wanted the pram to be able to take the capsule. That toddler seat was $200.
Honestly hun I would get a nice single, and a cheap double. The cheap doubles tend to last about 6 months before I find them too flimsy, so that might be a good option so that when DD is ready to walk the double is ready to retire IYKWIM.
My DH doesnt understand why over the years i have accumulated 3 x prams/strollers....but i keep telling him its because of the babies different ages and their diff needs at the time.....(ive just laybyd a new strider with todd. seat, but shhh thats another thread).
Anyway, i have a childcare side by side - around $160 from toys r us. And i bought a maclaren stroller for $200ish a few years ago. Theyve both lasted and both get plenty of use. I agree with your way of thinking....your going to need a stroller for another 4 years max - so get a stroller for now, and when #3 is old enough. Maybe keep an eye out for a side by side.....see what your budget allows.
MBear - I was just looking at a Maclaren and something else at the baby shop. Both looked really good. I just don't think I can lug my good old pram in and out of the car for too much longer. BTW my DH thinks that trollies are sufficent as means of transporting babies!!!
There is also the ABC one where the toddler/baby seat goes on the hood. Another option is to get two single strollers and the clips that go togther. That way if your out with hubby when new bub is her one can push one the other can push the other.
If I was planning on more and close together would go the ABC not cheap though.
