I have a phil and teds. It's as slim as a single pram, I find it very manovourable (sp), bit difficult to push one handed though. If you have the second seat on the back, but no child in it, the storage is fantastic, but even with a child in there, it is still pretty good. I think the prices range from $600 - $900 depending on the model you get.
We went for the Baby Jogger City Select. Moo will be over 2 once this baby arrives but he still needs a pram (or is that I still need him in a pram ) especially on big days out. I choose it because the handle extends which is awesome for my tall hubby, the 2nd seat goes at the front instead of under the main seat ITMS, it doesn't seem as wide as other prams we looked at, many seat configurations, great storage, easy fold, steers really well, Moo loved it & looked really comfy in it...downside is the price, think it was about $900 but then we bought a capsule & the extra seat.
i went the mountain buggy double and loved it. hard wearing and the kids get to sit side by side (which they loved, cos they could interact) and still fits through a standard doorway.
I went through a few different prams and tried all the different set ups when DD2 was born and DD1 was 12 months - side by side, one in front of the other, P&Ts. I found that one in front of the other was really hard to push with any real weight at the front. That was a Babylove. I hated the P&T - the baby in the "back" seat gets a lovely view of people's ankles and that's about it. I found going down any sort of hill meant I was constantly kicking the seat. DD2 hated it. Had a side by side stroller - Steelcraft. It was ok at the very beginning with serious lightweights, but after the girls got a bit bigger the little wheels made it difficult to manouevre.
What I was happiest with was a big, heavy Valco side by side that I never ever put in the car, but used for walking. For the shops I had a city mini double which was briliant to manouevre and not too wide. Nice comfy seats and both the kids seemed happy. The Valco was I think about $750 and the city mini about $500.
Baby Jogger City Mini Double! - we have one its awesome! fits through standard doorways and I have a Phil and Ted but much before this one! Also consider Mountain Buggy Duet which is coming out soon which is skinnier than the Baby Jogger City Mini Double and also I think same width as the Strider Plus which is for 2 kids.
ETA they have the new Mountain buggy on sale at Baby Village in Aust for $749 and its only 63cm in width. My BabyJogger Double is 76cm wide
Only thing I found annoying was when DS2 was a newborn it was hard to get him in and out unless in coccoon, but in coccon it was easy and not a problem.
Get into the strider plus army! I love my pram to bits! They're only about 500 now and the second seats about 120. There's also a bassinet and car seat u get for it. Very versatile!
We just bought the Strider Plus 3 Wheeler and LOVE it!! Love that bub can face us while still having a toddler seat on and it has great features and all the accessories are included in the one price.. The City Select seemed awfully long when in double mode..
Just for a different point of view - we have a maclarens double side by side. It was a hand me down from a friend. It folds up really quite compact, unlike a lot of other double prams. We have a 21 month age gap too.
i just went out and bought a baby jogger city select and i am so in love with it
i had a P&T Dash for my older 2 and upgraded recently to the baby jogger its FANTASTIC
unlike the strider plus 3 or P&T the toddler seat is in the front so it doesnt hit you in the knees plus you can have a bassinette and toddler seat at the same time and theres so many seating combos (we currently arent using our capsule due to our car but if i get my new car soon ill buy the car seat adaptor aswell
go to your local baby store and try them out
but first research your prices (strider plus is on sale currently) and research the reviews on the prams too
(city select doesnt fair too well on reviews but as the 2011 model has only just come out not many people have reviewed yet only the older models)
I have 2, I have a Maclaren stroller that I love love love but obviously is only one child at a time! If I was having another baby I would sell mine and get one that lays back and would just use that from birth. Twas about $250 on sale.
I also have a P & T sport - about $600 with a double kit but I think they are cheaper now. I love it and use it a few times a week for walking with the kids. I know some people don't like them as the child underneath can't see much but my kids love it and they are 4 and nearly 3 - it's a cracking work out too!
We bought the Baby Jogger City Mini double and it seems great so far! We got it for $500 but on sale and with no box or anything but I was fine with this because it was black. I'm super impressed with how easily it folds, it's actually easier than my single pram. One of my girlfriends commented on how great the turning circle was as well. My only disappointment? I bought gorgeous seat covers and they get in the way of the handle which you need to pull to fold so the seat covers end up all squashed when it's in the folded position. Seriously no biggie. DH was dead set against any front/back prams as he thinks the underneath child gets absolutely no view. I tried the City Select but it felt too long for my liking. DH really wanted a side by side and as it fits through doorways, I'm happy too.
I have two prams - bugaboo bee for when I'm just out with one and baby jogger city mini double when with both. I also don't like the prams where one child is underneath the other. I tried the baby jogger city select but it felt too long in front for me. I have no problems fitting anywhere and it handles really well.
I've also got a skate board for the bee so when DS 1 gets a bit older we can also use that.
ive got my maclaren vogue for my single as i found the P&T just too heavy and bulky
but now ive got my BJ city select ill oly use that
(i did notice the Select was longer but LOVE the turning circle its unbeliveable and the quick fold even needing to take the seats off first its so fast and easy
I will be passing all your fabulous comments on to DH. Because he's the Man With The Pram he gets ultimate veto and vote, which is only fair since I almost never have to use it ...
There is a new phil and teds pram out called the Verve, I really like it, it isn't as wide as the strider you can use it with a capsule and have the second child sitting underneath, and it isn't as heavy to lift as the stider.
I haven't purchased it yet but just thought it might be another one to consider. Oh and it is a 4 wheeler.
