I normally use biozet washing powder for DH & I, but with less than 9 wks till bubs arrives I'm going to start washing all the clothes, blankets, wraps etc that we've accumulated. Any suggestions?
A lady at Bras N Things suggested washing all of bubs clothes in the wash bags - anyone do this?
I have sensitive skin so I only use Amolin laundry liquid for washing everything. Once this baby arrives I'm just going to keep using Amolin as it's meant to be for babies too.
As for using those bags, if you use a gentle cycle it's probably not necessary.
I only ever use the washbags for things like socks and mittens. We've only ever used the same washing powder and fabric softener we have always used - it took years to find one that doens't make me itch, so we figured it would also be ok for Sam and so far no issues.
I wash everything in EnviroClean laundry powder & pre-soaker. It comes in a liquid form too and is free from all the harsh chemicals in mainstream brands which can irritate bubs sensitive skin. You can puchase it from local health stores and eco outlets. Ecover is another great brand. For my whites/lights I add a bit of a product called 'I'll make it all white', by BEE Naturals - also eco friendly.
Jellybean I'll have to look into those products as I'm trying to go as enviro friendly/ natural as possible but without going overboard as there is not too much available where I am.
The reason I use biozet is I've tried a couple of others and broke out in a rash - don't want that happening again!
Hello,
I've been advised to use Lux by friends that have already started their families. Common advice seems to be to use lux at least for the first few months before starting to use your normal detergent.
I've been thinking of using bra bags for wasing the cloths in as well - but will prob get the cheaper Big W version than the Bra's n things ones. I figure that for little stuff they will will be easier to find if in bags! I've also got a few of those little wheel things with the pegs off them to peg and dry the little socks and mittens together, cause again I figure that they could go missing if I dont take care of where they go!
I have discovered (thanks to another thread here) that 2tbs of bicarb soda does a great wash....well it cleans pooey nappies so I started washing Nates stuff in that. Does a great job so far.
Brendan has Excema so we use either Am-o-lin or a powder from Bambinopronto called Mio Care and we use the Mio Fresh for cloth nappies. I wash my clothes with my kids.
DP's clothes, our sheets and towels ect all get washed with normal powder, I buy whichever is the cheapest at the time I need it.
