Positive with out of date test...this can't be happening! Advice needed asap

One of the girls in my mum's group is 10 weeks pregnant with a 'miracle' surprise #2 bubs Her DD was IVF so I have everything crossed for you too and will be stalking for more news tomorrow but I did find this on the POAS website (hopefully your test is correct though!):

31. Can I use an expired test? No. The chemicals used in HPT's deteriorate after awhile and no longer function properly. This can cause a totally defective test (no control line), a false positive, or a false negative. Your best bet is to use a newer one!

I've deleted my post - I feel such a dill, but I think that I've realised the problem - the test I used is a ovulation test for LH, not a pg test. Still not sure why it went positive, but I'm not pg. Feel like such an idiot!

Easy mistake! But I think OPKs can be positive if you're PG though. Can someone else confirm that?

Definitely not a dill! Yes as taurean said they can come up positive when your pregnant ...

ok...so knowing that it was a LH test I found the box left over from MIVF (only out of date by a few months rather than a year or two) and did it too...and it came up positive as well...I was about to start googling why I was getting a LH surge at cd 34 when i have no history of PCOS. I was looking at hormone graphs but could not find one that explained why a LH surge would be picked up when not ovulating...

So, I could still be PG???? I had just sat down to a glass of wine and finishing off the gooey cheese from Sat's farmers market....I dont think I can wait till tomorrow and the supermarket opening!

I'm trying to keep under control - there must be another explaination...

I have no great advice, but I did have a little giggle at the sitting down to cheese and wine!!! What time does the supermarket open??? hmmmm, shall I start trying to convince you to run out to the supermarket tonight, or support you to sit tight until the morning?

trust me...if there was an open supermarket within 50km of where I live, I would have been there last night...hanging out for 8am when the local one opens. As for each way I want it to be...a BFP. DH and I were going to make the appointments today to start IVF with our frozen embies...for me to be pg without IVF and without being on the meds I was on last time would be totally out of this world...but in a wonderful way

Right, off to drop DS to childcare and then to the supermarket...

And I did an out of date test when with DD2 and it came up positive, I didn't believe it and did two more and they were positive too. Still didn't believe it because they were 2 years out of date or something! lol. But it was a BFP. Hope it is for you too!!

Just booked into GP at 11am this morning to get a blood test done...and to work out if I need to go onto meds...this feels so strange not going through a TWW or having a bruised tummy...I might have a 'normal' pg...
