My sister called quite upset and confused yesterday.
She thought she was pregnant so took 3 pregnancy tests. The first 2 came back position. The 3rd came back negative.
So she went to the Dr and their test also came back negative. So off for bloods she went.
She got a call from the Dr yesterday afternoon saying that the bloods had came back negative.
I was absolutely certain that she was pregnant.
I have never heard of a false positive and always though there was no such thing. I always thought if the test was positive you must have HCG in your system, even the smallest amount, to trigger a positive result.
Has anyone else had an experience like this?
Do you think she should continue on in she were pregnant incase she is only VERY early?
I have had that happen hun. That is usually what happens with a chemical pregnancy, where the egg fertilises but doesnt stick. When AF comes it will likely be quite clotty and different to a normal AF. s for your sis, A loss is a loss no matter how early.
hi sara
just wondering did your sis's doc request a preg test where the result is positive / negative or a quantitative BHCG where anything under 25 is considered neg. (but could be going up/down).
if it is still early it is possible the hcg is <25 and on the way up. (also the reason one HPT was neg if a different brand and less sensitive, doctors room tests are not sensitive at all and are generally for >50 hcg.). also if the neg result was from a sample other than FMU it may give a false neg.
i have heard that BT are sometimes wrong but with the modern tests this is highly unlikely.
your sis could ring the doc and have the request changed to a quant hcg that may give you some answers, otherwise i would retest over the next few days if AF doesn't come. and as they say while AF stays away you are in with a chance !
for your sis, that it is only a slow starter, and not an early loss.
