I got a BFP last night - tested at about 1900 hrs. It was clear and no doubt that it was positive.
Tonight I went to the Dr's and I did a urine test - came back NEGATIVE . He explained I still could be positive etc, and that it is possible to get false positives and false negatives etc - I felt soooo embarrassed!
So like any other lady would do, I bought another HPT on my way home and you guessed it - BFP again. Once again, the test clearly indicated it was positive.
Although I'm going off for a BT tomorrow morning, I was just wondering what the accuracy rating is of those Dr tests. It looked like a white rectangular cartridge - no brands / colours on it.
Don't know if the beef curry and pepsi max that I ate minutes to going to the Dr had anything to do with it?
Babe, docs tests are notorious for being not as sensitive as store bought tests They detect much higher amounts of hcg than store boughts and internet cheapies. Have your beta, (make sure it's quantitive, not qualitive to avoid more confusion lol) but I think you can safely assume you're utd
basically, if they do a qualitive test (this is very common) it will be a pass/fail. This varies on the lab it's done in. For some, the cut off number for pregnancy will be a hcg level of say, 25, others may be 30, others may be 15. So you could be utd and they say you are not, simply because it is too early. A quantitive they will tell you what that number is, and usually do another one to confirm it is rising. But I would say with 2 pos hpt's, you are definately utd!
Bahahaha! You will not fail, trust me If they say, hmmm well it says 'not pregnant' just say, psssht, I've done x amount of hpt's (and look on the box to see the level of miu or mui or whatever it's called, the amount of hormone basically that the test will measure) that detect x amount of miu, how much do your tests detect? And can I have a quantitive. And you smell I am 100% certain you're utd...
Out of interest, what will your august fitness goal be now
I did about 12 HPT when I got my positive then I waited a week to go to the DR and the Dr's test was negative. He sent me for bloods and I was infact pregnant.
When I went back for my checkup at 8 weeks he said that the tests they had were faulty as several other women that week were pregnant and not tested positive.
Maybe thats what it was...but I remember waiting for those test results
Leesa, I've been following your thread. the results came back positive.
I'm I can join the April BellyBuddy group with you for a little Aries baby.
All the best for a happy and healthy pregnancy.
Join me CBG!!!! Praying for ya hun!!!! Sending vibes your way :-)
I'm stoked about this extra two weeks - it means there is a slight chance bubs could be born on my Mums birthday! What are the chances eh? Even if its near the date I'm stoked :-D
What a wonderful birthday present for your Mum. I wonder if she has had a part in bringing you your little miracle?
I've thought about the due date too Leesa, IF I'm fortunate enough baby would be born between DP and mine birthday. After 14 cycles you'd think it'd happen already.
Number of weeks pregnant is counted from the last period you had, and that is usually 2 weeks before ovulation. So at ovulation, if you conceive, you are immediately 2 weeks pregnant. 2 - 3 weeks from then would be the earliest the pregnancy could be detected, making you 4 - 5 weeks pregnant
Just posting that after the repeat blood HCG test it's come back that I have levels equipvelent to about 4-5 wks. Last week it was between 2-3 weeks :-)
