    Question First Response HPTs

    Hiyas.

After some help here as I am driving myself mad wondering if I am really pg or I just got 2 packs of dud hpts.

I tested with the First Response test strip on the afternoon of 24 December, I was 8dpo then. And got a very very super duper faint line, it came up within the 5 min timeframe. I tested again on the 25th December 9dpo with another First Response test strip with FMU and got another super duper faint line but DH could see it. So I got super excited because my temps on FF are high and staying consistantly high over the 3 days. I didnt have any tests yesterday to try with FMU so I tested about lunch time after I went to the shop and bought a First Response test strip and the First Response Early Result. I tested with the First Response Early Result because I thought surely I would get a result as AF is 1 or 2 days late and the First Response Early Result says that it can pick up from 6 days before your missed period. So I was utterly gutted when it came up as a BFN! I ripped open the First Response test strip and tried with that and again a BFN I left it at that yesterday and tested again this morning with FMU (11dpo) with the First Response test strip and there is a super duper faint line but its about as faint as the one two days ago and I thought that it would be darker!! And I cant be totally certain that it came up within the 5min time frame but you can def see it now that its dried.

    I have a pic here... https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...2&d=1293423588

So, I was just after people's experiences with their pos HPTs, inparticular the First Response brand - did you have a definite 2nd line at 11dpo or was it still pretty faint?

Could I be getting evap lines?? The 2nd line is the same shade of purple and surely I can't be getting evap lines on all 3 tests??!! The 8 & 9 dpo were from the same pack and the 11dpo was from a new pack.

As i mentioned above I am maybe 1 or 2 days late with AF. My cycles are either 25 or 26 days with my last cycle being only 25 days. On Saturday I had a backache, cramps and pains going through boobs and I was tired & needed an arvo nap. Yesterday I had a few cramps but sore boobs gone, I did have a headache that lasted all day. Today, I feel normal.

Feel free to look at my FF chart too.

    TIA!!!

Thats weird. I have never had an evap line with FR. They are normally a really reliable brand! Maybe because you didnt test with FMU it didnt come up?

Id get another early one and test with FMU. Your chart looks fab

    Good luck!

The one I did today was with FMU (forgot to add that in) so I thought that it would be darker. Did you have a look at my pic? I got the 3 pos tests in my gallery..

I do have another 2 of the First Response Early Result but am too afraid to use them! I was going to pick up a digi one yesterdy but afraid of those NOT PREGNANT words...

ok from your chart i think your only 7dpo at the moment, you have a more consistent temp rise of 3 post EWCM than when it has marked you.
so that may be explaining the faint BFP's

When i invert the colours and play with the sharpness and contrast i can seen a second line in the bottom 2 more clearly than the top one.

i'd say give it 2-3 days re test and see how you go..

Kawazuki - I never even thought that my O date could be wrong. But if that is the case, even getting a pos at 5 dpo is unheard of?!!

Yes the plan is to skip testing tomorrow (I hope I can resist) and test on Wednesday...

They don't look like First Response tests? My FR Early Respsonse were massive pink and white ones? I used tests like those ones once, they were Forelife? I got evap lines left, right and centre with the Forelife/Foretel ones!

Anyway, I also inverted and played around in Photoshop and saw a sort-of line in the bottom one, a kind-of shadow in the middl eone, and maybe-maybe something inthe top one, but if they were my tests I'd have said they were evap lines. Sorry Maybe test in a few days?

Oh, another thing to try is rather than peeing ON the stick, pee in a plastic cup and dip it in for the amount of time it says to pee on it. That's what I did with my FRER tests at 10DPO, 12DPO, and 14 DPO using FMU, and I got feint but clear positives getting steadily darker with each one. Peeing on them I find doesn't give it enough wee, but thats probably just a reflection of my aim and ability to pee on things more than anything else!

Indadhanu - They are First Response hpts but just the test strips. I bought them in the supermarket here. A pic can be seen here.. https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...3&d=1293432242

The one of the left is what I am getting these faint lines with and the one on the right I am too scared to use cause it showed the bfn on 10dpo..
And yes, I peed in a cup and dipped them for the time that they said.

I can definitely see lines on those tests, and to me they look like they are getting darker. I used test strips like those with both my DS's pregnancy and also with this little girl. Mine were a different brand though. Once I was sure I could see something on one of the test strips I did the First Response test (the big pink and white one) and always found they came up with a much stronger (and definite) line.

    Best of luck!

Ngala, I had an almost identical experience to yours. I'll write it down for you so you can see the similarities. BTW, I have a 24-25 day cycle too.

10 DPO - Test with FR strip with FMU - Very faint BFP. DH thinks Im seeing things and cannot see a line. Mine looked identical to yours in the pic, if not fainter. But I knew it was not a BFN after having them month after month.
11 DPO - Test with FR strip with FMU - Very faint BFP. No darker than the previous day. Worried because this happened in my chemical pg just 5 months before.
12 DPO - No more tests, so go out and buy FR early result, knowing it should be darker because these are more sensitve tests. BFN with concentrated urine. No hint of a second line. (I even took the test apart and held it upto the light) Absolutely gutted!
13 DPO - Test with FR early result. Very faint BFP or evap line. Second line has virtually no colour. DH says I should stop testing because there is no line and I am not pg.
15 DPO - AF now late. I buy another pkt of FR strips. BFP! DH can see it. I know it is a real BFP!!!!!!!!! The line is not as dark as the control line though, but is now visible.
16 DPO - Line is getting stronger, but still not as dark as the control line.

I hope this helps, because it is the same experience as I had with the exact same tests just 3 weeks ago!

Good luck. Let us know how you go!

I am getting quite frustrated and have been in and out of sleep since 3am!!

If these tests I have done are duds wouldn't the 'line' stay the same shade with each of the tests. The 'line' has gotten a teeny bit darker on each of the tests. I tested each of them in the same way - FMU in a cup stick dipped for 10 seconds and timer on for 5 mins. If they were duds or evap lines then it shouldn't get darker or have colour to the lines....

Seriously clutching at straws here aren't I?!!

I need to get in to see a doc cause I might need a tetanus shot so I'm going to ask for a blood test if my hpt still doesn't have a clear result tomorrow..

I do not trust those dip sticks! I would definitely try again with the First response in stream tests, IME they have been the most reliable & accurate.

Praying hard that you get a BFP

I found first response temperamental and I got 3 BFN . With a crystal clear dip stick one I got a very obvious BFP in a minute at about 3pm day after FR. A digital 2 days after the FR test returned a result in about 1 min saying 2-3weeks. DP said FR must be imcopmpatible with my wee
