Hi all,
So I am halfway through my 2ww after having my embryo transfer last week and of course going a little stir crazy. Just a couple of questions, has anyone out there tested with a hpt at say 12 or 13dpo before their 14 day blood test and got an accurate result? Also does anyone know if using the crinone gel can give false positives?
Also one more thing my FS said that if I AF didn't arrive by day 12 or 13 I could start to feel pretty optimistic but I am sure that I have heard of women not getting AF until after they got a negative blood test?
Any thoughts appreciated!
I had a blast transferred, so technically I was 5DPO then, six days later at 11DPO I was naughty & did a HPT & got a faint BFP. I was in a panic thinking it was leftover hormones, but found out that it wasn't after speaking to some of the BB IVF girls. And well my little miss is here & turning one on Sunday, so it was definitely her & not the injections
Crinone won't affect the result because it is progesterone & the HPT tests for HCG
Thanks Sarah,
That is good to know! Also I was just thinking do I go by the epu day or the embryo transfer day when figuring out days past ovulation because I am classing today as 7 dpo as I had my transfer 7 days ago but should I be thinking of today as day 9 because that was the day the egg collection occured? So confusing!
The day of the egg pick up is counted as "ovulation", the embryos are created on that day as would happen on the day of ovulation in a natural cycle. So you are technically 9DPO today
Thanks heap Sarah!
Well that's good I guess, will have less of a wait than I thought! Still don't know if it would be worse to test with a hpt and get a negative or for AF to arrive but at least I have options for a few days time if I get too crazy.
Thanks for your help!!
I debated all day before doing my HPT then when i did, I panicked thinking I was getting my hopes up & it was leftover injection hormones!! So that was hard too But IKWYM it's a tough choice, I was just way too impatient!
I did one the morning of my blood test which I had moved forward a day because I couldn't stand the torture one more day! So it was 13 dpo for me and I got a faint bfp.
I felt better prepared going in to the clinic to have the bt done having some sort of indication as to whether I was prg or not. Having said that, I was in no way convinced I was until I got the bt results and didn't get my hopes up at all.
Cadence - just keep in mind that this is your first IVF so you MIGHT have some trigger shot left - please take any result with a grain of salt. if you test at, for instance, 12dpo and get a faint result, test again next day and see if it gets stronger... i'd hate for you to be disappointed by a false positive from the remaining trigger shot...
i found i started testing earlier (cheap net tests) in the cycle to test the trigger out of my system, and then kept testing - got a BFN one day, and BFP for the next two so i knew it was a true positive...
