    Question LH Surge

I'm new to temping and OPK so I'm a little unsure how it all works.
I have had 1 AF (very light) since coming off BC, and that cycle was 51 days, so I don't know what is happening with my cycles and body yet.
Around CD14 I started getting sore BB and AF type cramps, which persisted for days, so I bought OPK about CD17, and got a strong +ve, 3days later I got a temp rise (but my sleep had not been consistant, so my temping times were not at the same time) I have now had 3 raised temps, (though each one slightly lower than the pervious one), but FF has not detected O yet. I'm still getting strong +ve on OPK.
The cramps have reduced in severity, and my BB as still tender, I'm CD21 now.
I'm confused that if I'm still getting +ve OPK if I have not actually O yet? How long does LH stay in your system? Would LH be detectable if your are PG?
I hope someone can hep with my questions.

Charlotte, when you say it's a strong positive, you mean the line is darker than or the same colour as the test line don't you?

It's hard going by temps when you've taken them at different times, it makes a big difference. I would say looking at your chart that you O'd on Wednesday - all your fertile signs line up then and you have a temp drop. Sometimes FF takes a while to give you a coverline - it's waiting for your temps to climb above the range of previous temps.

What is your CM doing now? Still EW?

I have heard of people here getting +ve on OPKs when they were pg, You could always try a hpt JIC.

    Good luck!

    Charlotte,

I'm not sure that you can take too much notice of the temps and FF at this stage as you haven't been taking your temps at the same time.

How many days have you had a +ve OPK for? I've read that during O you can test +ve with the OPK at the start, peak and end of the LH surge which can take things over 3 days. I've also read that your body can try to O and then for some reason the egg doesn't pop out. If this happens then the body can try to O again straight away and you get a 2nd LH surge which would mean +ves over several days.

Also you can return +ve OPKs when you're pg. If I were you I think I'd do a HPT. If the test's -ve and you're TTC then I'd bd like crazy! Keep doing the OPKs.... things will sort themselves out.

    Good luck!

SallyJ: Yes the test line was very dark in comparison to the control line. CM drying up.

    Principessa: 4 +ve OPK over 5 days.

Just finished a night shift so temped at 1.30pm today, lower than pervious 3 temps.
I didn't get a rapid temp drop after AF came, and due to fairly high temps at the start of my cycle FF is waiting for a temp around that level to identlify that I have O'd. I'm starting to think those temps might be squewing my data. During that period I was in Borneo, it was very hot and humid and also thinking about it I got a 24 hour tummy bug on CD1 (wrong end for nausea thought, lol). I don't think I can rely on the data I have collected. I'm just going on gut instinct that I'm 4DPO.

Charlotte somewhere in the FF FAQ is a specific ref to nightshifts and how to deal with them.

When did the CM dry up? Usually it does this just after O, or within a couple of days. since we can't rely on the temps I'd say CM is your best guide. I don't think FF pays too much attention to the early temps - I had some high ones at the beginning of my last cycle and it ignored them (also you can code them as "illness" for example0

Thanks Sally, I will have a look into it.
