Can anyone please tell me the difference between strip tests and midstream? I'd like to order some HPT's and OPK's and don't want to make a mistake and order ones that aren't what I wanted.
next time you're at the chemist, just ask the ladies there. different tests work different ways. strip tests usually can be used earlier than midsream. there are new digital midstreams too. it depends on how sensitive you want the test to be and how much you're willing to pay. if you're waiting till the day AF is due, then midstreams are good for then and for days after then. strip tests are better if you want to test 7-10 days after ovulation. ask the chemist ladies or even your doctor next time you're there.
Hi, for the LC ones the HPT midstream are actually more sensitive (10mlu) and the strip ones are 20. The midstream are also more expensive (for lullaby conceptions). I find the brand to be very reliable so i dont really think it matters which ones you buy - depends on cost i guess
As for the OPK's i'm not 100% sure on their strenght but i use the strip ones and always get great +ves but they will tell you on their website, Good luck
I've been using the midstream LC ones and they are very accurate and very sensitive - more sensitive than the strip ones. I've not had a false reading (positive or negative) on them nor have I had an evaporation line. If you are wanting to test early I recommend the midstream ones, if you are happy to wait until you are late then try the strip ones.
I had a weird occurrence when testing...
I was getting faint bfp on the in stream tests from 5 days before AF..since it was confusing me, I bought some ultra sensitive stick tests which showed nothing (and interestingly are still showing nothing (bfn) yet I am 5 weeks 3 days PG as confirmed by my GP!
I think different tests seem to work for different people!
ok its seems i was confused. sorry about that. i do remember all hte strip ones showed bfn but i was testing early. but the midstream was faint bfp on day of AF. so i guess go for the midstreams, but digital i think is a bit useless.
