    OPK Help

Hi, this is the first month that i am using OPK's, i am using the lullaby conception brand, i was just wondering if any of you know, my menstrual cycle has been around 38-39 days, so i started testing at 2pm every second day from day 14. do you think this is ok? or should i be testing every day? today i got a strong control line but a faint but visable test line, but wasn't as dark as control line, do you think i am still yet to ovulate or will ovulation maybe happen tomorrow or the next day? please help

    Hi Rosa,

I have a 35 day cycle and I normally ovulate on day 20-21 so I BD every second day from around day 10-12 so we have some swimmers well on their way in case I miss it. I normally start doing my OPK's at around day 16 and do it every day at the same time and I also check for EWCM at the same time. This normally works for me and I always get a very dark second line. Sometimes the second line is darker than the control line then I know it is a positive. Any line fainter than the control is a negative. If I was you, with your 38-39 day cycle I would start testing with your OPK's at around day 17 at the same time each time you test and I would do it every day. If you do it every second day you sometimes can miss the surge. You should probably ovulate at around day 25 if your have a 14 day luteal phase. I hope this helps you a bit. Good luck with your TTC and may be both get the BFP we both wish for.

    xxx Nita

This is/was my first month doing OPK tests too.

I understand you have to do them at the same time everyday, not every second day. I'd re-read the instructions in the kit though.

I took a test every day from day 9 and occassionally got a very faint test line as apparently LH is always present but to get a positive result the test needs to detect a surge.

I got a surge on the evening of day 18 and I believe I ovulated on day 19 as I also had a temperature surge.

I found it hard to test at 2pm each day, so moved it to 6.30pm and got a positive. I did another test the following day (just to see what happened) and there was only a faint line, not a bold one, indicating my surge had passed.

That is why I think it is really important to do the test every day.

After the positive test result, O is supposed to take place between 12-36 hours later.

    Hope this helps.

    Nicole.
