opks as hpts?

Just a question, has anyone heard of anyone doing an OPK and it being negative but they were still pregnant? What I mean is does an OPK always pick up a pregnancy?

I am 8 dpo and I used an OPK as a HPT this morning just cause I was curious what would happen and I feel like I could be pg...

I tested this morning with FMU and I didnt get a 2nd line.. I kept the OPK cause I was curious if anything would show in the arvo.. and it did - there is a line, faint but you can see if when you hold it at arms length. I know that it probably doesnt count cause came up well after alocated time but I know when I used my OPK for finding O, I tested about 7 times be4 getting my second line. On about the 5th and 6th test, I had a look a few hrs later and there was a faint line and then on my last one, I got the 2nd line.

What you think? could it be possible the line will get darker with continued testing over the next few days... LOL but wont be able to do that cause only got 1 more left! I am due to do a HPT soon but just curious on what you think on the OPK.. hopefully this will be able to help others.

I've read of opks being used as hpts too and tested it last cycle and did have a feint 2nd line and yes I was pregnant. But had an early m/c soon after:crying:
Because it was an early m/c with no d & c and I was back in the -ive hcg wise we started trying right away pretty much:-)
The last few days I've been feeling queasy and haven't felt like eating dinners and have had some probs sleeping too...
I tried an opk 2days ago - nothing but this morning with fmu (unlike the the 1st one!) there is a feint 2nd line.
So maybe I've hit the jackpot again:pray: I'll test again tomorrow and see if its darker!

omg hindonly!! Thats sounds sooo promising. how many dpo are you?? If its past 10dpo will you try using one of those 'early' hpt's?? Im praying that this is it for you sweety.

I did an OPK a couple of days ago and got a second line - not super dark but there nonetheless. Got a BFP today..... interesting!

Its all just a waiting game isn't it - Pretty sure Im in the 2ww now and I am getting a faint 2nd line but really dont want to jump in and starting thinking I'm utd iykwim:-)

I got 2 really dark line OPK on Monday night & a HPT :bfp: this morning so it worked for me too, although I am still amazed!!!

Well I tried another opk this morning and the line is much darker now, not as dark as the 1st line but still darker!
So I'm feeling more hopeful now. More than likely test early next week so will keep you all posted:-)
I think I mentioned that I used these last preg too and it showed only a faint - hcg levels too low:-( M/C. soon after.

just wanted to let you all know that this worked for me but AF was due today and this morning i did a hpt and it was ++ so i thought i would do an opk and see what happened and it came up ++ too so it worked for me although i tested with an opk at about 10DPO and i only had the faintest ever line. so for me it only really worked when i was due for AF if that makes sense lol

I got all excited after reading this thread and tested with FMU today with an OPK at 7 dpo. I didn't get a second line!
I'm really disappointed. :crying:
If I was pregnant would a second line on an OPK show up by now? Is there still hope?

Kisa - Maybe give it a couple of more days then try again...fingers X'ed for you.My line is gradually getting darker, but Im too scared to test yet. Wait til Thursday maybe!

Kisa, I done an OPK at 6 and 8dpo and both come back negative. Today at 12dpo I done a HPT and got a ++ so dont give up hope just yet.

About 10 mins ago I decided to use a opk as a hpt (since I have a few left over) and I got 2 lines (the test line was fainter than the control line, but it is definitely there, and came up after 2 mins) , I am kind of excited but not getting my hopes up, will probably do another in the morning and see what happens:crossfingers:

Hi! Just thought I'd add my 2 cents worth...I did an OPK when I was 9 DPO and got a very faint second line...the next day I did a HPT and got a very faint BFP! So I definitely think there is some truth to the OPT predicting HPTs! I wouldn't lose hope though if those lines aren't coming up at the same times as we are all different and hence some of our bodies might take a little longer to produce hcg :)

Hi Ladies- well Im not sure what to make of the opks as hpts now! I've been getting 2 lines too but yesterday af visited and just for the sake of it I tried another! Yep still 2 lines. What the * ! Should be only 1 line now surely! V. confused now.

Oh hind - test with a hpt to be sure! Im hoping you only had a little implant bleed :)

Fletch - No, I dont always have a 2nd line which is why I use them for ovulation.

But I've just tried again today and no line. Do you think another early, early m/c?
Maybe its good I'll never know for sure.

Dont think I'll be using them again as early hpts anymore.

Well, I just wanted to add my experience.
I got a definite :bfp: this morning! :dance: at 13dpo.
But I tried an OPK (same brand as the pregnancy test) and got no second line at all!
So if the OPK's aren't working for you, don't give up hope!

Kisa - thats terrific news. Goes to show that opks are not reliable and probably best to stick with the appropriate method of testing and what theyre made for, hey?!

I did another okp last night and again this morning and just now and they have gone lighter, lighter to nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been testing with OPKs and HPT for the last few days, and while i am getting BFN on both, I have noticed a 2nd line on my OPKs and it has been getting darker. I just wanted to say thanks for the pics. They have been a big help! :D
