Help me understand my OPK?

Can someone help me understand the results on my OPK? I have used it for two months now, and haven't got a proper result yet. I've been using basal temperature charting for coming up to 5 months now, since coming off the pill. My cycle is extremely regular.

This is what my results look like: up to day 12, only the control line appears. No test line.

On day 13, there is a very faint test line. This is true first thing in the morning, at 2pm and in the evening.

On day 14, in the morning, the test line is pronounced but fainter than the control line. At 2pm and in the evening, the test line is very faint again.

I was lucky that day 13 and 14 of this month happened to be on the weekend (I can't really test at work!), and was able to test in the early afternoon, but it still didn't give me a proper result! I am assuming I ovulate on day 14 (on day 15 my basal temperature starts to rise), but I'm not sure, since I'm not getting a distinct result on the OPKs.

I can't find much information about these tests anywhere. I hope someone can help me!

hi, never use first morning urine. they say its best to test at the same time every day and usually between 10am - 8pm. from what u r saying, i am guessing u o'd around day 14. do u test after day 14? or just until then? u only need to test once a day, and if u r testing more then once a day, u might be getting false positives. also how long is your cycle? is it a 28 day cycle or 30 day cycle etc? maybe also check for signs from your body too such as cervical mucuous, sore boobs, bloating etc. HTH.

After day 14 there is just one line again, and since my temperature starts to go up on day 15, and stays up, I am guessing I must have ovulated by that stage. My cycle is 25 days, and it's like clockwork.

I have been checking my cervical mucus but I find it a bit confusing and less accurate. I get sore breasts around ovulation, but it seems to be gradually getting less pronounced since coming off the pill.

wow a 25 day cycle. u must have a short luteal phase then. good luck with ttc. i know how confusing everything is!

Before I started taking the pill in my early 20s, my cycle used to be much longer--around 35 days. When I came off the pill at age 31, I was suprised to find that my cycles are now shorter, my periods are much lighter and shorter, and I have substantially less period pains!

wow. i was on the pill for 12 years and it was the same after i stopped to what is was before. painful cramps and 7 days long! plus irregular too

Hi, I use the ovulation prediction kits and temp too. I find that the test line goes pretty close to the control line but not quite the same (when it does this i know i will ovulate in about 24 - 48hrs) My temp usually starts to spike 12 - 24hrs after the test line elevates so i am assuming that if you are the same as me that you would ovulate the day after the test line elevates. Maybe as soon as you start to see a rise in your test line start having sex every other day and hopefully you will have some success? I may be wrong though so maybe you should see a fertility specialist or your GP. It can be sooo frustrating hey!!! I hope you get the result you are hoping for very soon!! Good luck. xx
