DS is having some epic 3-year-old hissy fits. Wow, he's just a roiling mess of emotion sometimes. But.... I'm starting to find, more and more, that talking through things and explaining is atually working (this is assuming I don't dissolve into a hissy fit myself ).
Today, twice, DS lost it because I said he couldnt' do something or other. Once he'd finally calmed down he asked again, and I explained, again, why he couldn't.
He listened to me.
And then he suggested a mutually acceptable alternative.
Although we aren't quite at the 'talking things through' stage at only 2.5, my fortnight of tantrums recently came to an abrupt halt and I have my chilled out little dude back - whew, so I will jump on your woohoo and come along for the ride!!
Unfortunately the fact that we've 'got it' means that we will soon be on to the next 'thing'... or at least that has always been the case to date. But let's enjoy it for now, hey?
That is cool! I'm loving that DD really understands us now but as far as reasoning goes, that's a while off in our house. I guess I can't expect too much from a 2 year old
