so apparently i'll now berate children too...

i took the kids down to the park today, cause ds wanted to ride his bikes on the bike paths. we did that for a while, and the park we were at started to fill up with kids from about 6 - 12. ds wanted to play with them, and they were fairly good with letting him, but he tried to tell them his name, and said 'my name is xavier', now, he's 4, he has a brilliant vocab but sometimes when he speaks it can be a bit hard to understand. anyway, these kids obviously didn't undersand, and all looked at eachother and laughed - i had to stop myself crying for my little man who just wanted to be included.

i took ds to play on the other side of the park, but eventually he wanted to go back to playing with them, and he said to them, 'santa gave me a transformer for christmas', once again, they all looked at eachother and laughed. well, that does it for me, and i raise my voice, hoping their parents could hear, and said 'don't you dare laugh at him, he's little, and he's trying to tell you that santa gave him a transformer'. little turds were a bit shocked at that. ****ers.

i get so upset by this sort of crap, xavi just wanted to be involved, and was being friendly. the thought of him feeling bad about bigger kids doing this just does my head in.

As someone who has a child with a speech delay I feel for you

Man, I swear kids manner are just getting more rotten as the years go by. People just arent teaching their kids enough compassion and manners these days. Im sorry Xavier had to go through that but good on you for calling them out on it.

i think it was more me who took it to heart, but god i get furious at bigger kids, they treat little ones like crap all the time. i think their parents need to remind them they were little, and harder to understand, not that long ago.
