    So sad :(

Just got a letter home today to tell us to prepare our children for the news they will receive tomorrow - that their teacher is close to losing her battle with cancer. She's been off school the last term, and that was upsetting enough for the children. I feel so sad

I dont know what to say to my daughter, almost 11, as shes been missing her teacher dearly. Im worried about her tomorrow and am thinking maybe I should pick her up and not catch the bus home in case... Man its gonna be tough. Such a beloved teacher of 16 years at the school.

    That is so sad.

Good on the school for thinking of the children and preparing them.

Oh that's tragic. Like Cat said, I think it's great that the school are working with families to help the kids process their loss. Unfortunately, there's no way to make it easy for them and it's awful having to say something to your child that you know will hurt. Sending you strength and wisdom in supporting your DD through this.

How terribly sad When it's a really good teacher kids often form parent/child like bonds with them and I imagine this will be very difficult for your DD.

Good luck for supporting your daughter and also thinking of the poor lady.

    That's really sad
When DD1 started school this year, one of the girls in her class is dying of cancer, her parents sent a letter home to all parents explaining the condition and that their DD will be in and out of school throughout the year. It was in terms kids could understand to explain it to our children.

How sad I have no idea how I would handle that, what do you say?

I imagine the school will have counseling available for students if they're this prepared, I hope your DD is ok

That's so sad. I would definitely pick her up from school. She'll need her mumma.

    So sad :(

They had to announce today that she had passed... Happened last night. The school have been great, phoning us all individually and said the kids are coping as best as expected to be. Counsellors and parents are in the class with them all day. Poor kids I wish I could be there to comfort her, loads of hugs after school. So terribly sad.

We went through this in February when my sons teacher passed away suddenly 10 days after having her baby

The school dealt with it quite professional while dealing with their own grief. Children were invited to attend the funeral. She taught my son in grades 3,6 and half of year 7 before she left for maternity leave.

Her daughter still attended the school and before she came back a parade was held with a minutes silence and all the kids were asked to respect the daughters privacy and not to bombard her with questions ect.

Hope your daughter is ok with it all
