What do you love about having a little boy?

I have a son who I love to bits and wouldn't change for the world. He's always on the go and is very affectionate towards me.

I also love having a brother. No other girls to be b*****y with, just someone who always looked after me (despite being younger).

i adore my son, he is nearly 3 and he is so funny, im forever saying how cute is that kid to my DH, he sings little songs all the time and is always making us laugh, he is also a snuggle bum and is always jumping on our laps for cuddles, he is so sweet, we have a DD 2 years older than him and they are so close and attached to one another, she is like a mother hen to him and they love each other so much

They are such mummies boys! While they are young they adore their mummies. I get soooo many kisses and cuddles from my little man who is now 6. He is so cute and affectionate. I often get scenarios like this:

Hahaha! Sometimes I get cranky from it but he always pipes up something sweet. I'm so lucky :) Love my little man so much. Even though I now have two grown up sized brothers, no matter how manly they are, you can tell that they adore their mother and would kill to protect her. Its so sweet.

There is a private support group for gender disappointment on this forum which you can apply to join and those lovely ladies will totally get what you are feeling. Sometimes you just need to talk to others who get it.

I just wanted to add that I had the very same thing - it definitely helps to get support and stories from those who have been there (or are) but I can tell you, I spent my second half of my pregnancy a bit disconnected from my growing belly and unsure how I felt about the whole thing, but as soon as he was out of my body and into my arms, I would have killed anyone who hurt him! That protective, loving instinct kicked in. I felt silly for feeling upset that I was having a boy... but its just my journey. See how yours unfolds too - and if you struggle with it after the birth (or even now if you find it to be bad enough) definitely get some help - find someone experienced in this sort of counselling.

omg, ALL of the above!! hahaha to Kelly's post... it happens so often here.. My ds can be a pain in the butt - all annoying, then snap "What?!" "I love you mum" or "you're my best friend mum"

I have a DD7 and DS5 as well as Miss P. Boys are straightforward. They tell it like it is and never leave you wondering. Everything is done at Mach 10... including loving their mumma! Girls can be manipulative and *****y, I reckon it's just in our genes! Boys don't play those games. I adore my girls, but my boy... well, he holds a special place in his mumma's heart.

And my DD1 and DS absolutely adore each other, more so than many off my friends who have two girls of similar ages. Two girls close together often seem to be *****y (I know, not always!). My DS is a fantastic big brother to Miss P, I think having a sister shows him how to be gentle and more in touch with his emotions. There are benefits and disadvantages to every gender mix and age gap. I'm sure you will find all the benefits of having your little man. Congratulations!

Isnt it funny, they are all wired the same way and they never change ;) Know how to get out of trouble by saying they love you, tell it like it is.... hahaha

Mine also goes at warp speed, then is apparently like a 2-stroke engine when tired. This is DH's favourite saying. Apparently, when 2-stroke engines are running out of puff or fuel, they work faster and faster, and are noisier and noisier... We certainly know when he's tired!

Yep, but when the engine is run dry... they just drop. Head hits the pillow and instantly asleep!! It's like there is an On/Off switch and nothing in between!

Ahh, boys. I have two. And i married one. I have a big brother and he's a bit useless, but we all love him and he was incredibly protective of me and my sister even though he's only 18 months older than me. I loved growing up with a brother in the family mix - there were always males around, and i believe that being friends with them helped me as a girl to see boys as friends and equals,

My boys seem to be very affectionate, especially the almost 3 year old. He is also very very active and loves outdoors and bikes and dirtiness and so he is often wearing himself out. They're easier to get their hair done! No clips or bows or plaits!

My mum fosters children and has seven daughters and one son. She says that girls can be b!tchy and sly where as boys will just do everything right in front of you!
They are so much fun! They are simple creatures and don't create as much dramas as girls do!
My little boy is only 14.5 months but he is such a 'boy' already! Loves playing rough with his daddy, loves cars and dirt. He LOVES his big sister and cries when she goes to school. He loves hanging out with her in her room! So cute!

Same as nickle - my son is out like a light! Amazes me - wish I could do the same sometimes! I think boys are less in their heads than us.

I also thought after all these posts that I loooooooove my girl too lol :) They're getting a bad wrap :p and while it may be true lol, she's just gorgeous too :)

I completely understand how you are feeling. Whenever I thought of myself with kids, it was always girls, never boys. I went out of my way to find out the sex of this baby behind my DH's back as my feelings were so strong and he just couldn't get it. I needed to know so that if it was a boy I could grieve the loss of my dream of having a girl. I'm lucky that Hatchlet turned out to be a girl but I have a secret fear that they got it wrong.

Having said that, I have a DS already and I love him to bits. I wouldn't change him for the world. He is the sweetest, most loving little boy. Definately a mummy's boy. He loves cuddles & kisses. He gives the sweetest sloppy kisses on the lips! Only to me though. No kisses for DH! He loves to show me his toys & books and insists I sit with him and play. It is great seeing him with DH as well. They play in the garden together, kicking balls around, gardening, just running around and hearing his laugh while DH is chasing him is one of my favourite sounds.

He doesn't have an older sister but he is about to get a younger one. I can't wait to see how they get on. DS has such a gentle loving nature, I'm sure he'll be a wonderful big brother.

I can second all the above, boys are COOL! I too wanted a girl and felt a bit disconnected when I first found out we were having a boy. Don't get me wrong, I loved him to bits, but it took awhile to get that strong bond. Now, he's just awesome! He crinkles his nose up when he smiles and saves his best smiles for mummy, daddy and grandma! He's clingy and cuddly and huggy too.
And, as a teacher, boys are WAAAAY more easy-going, better conversationalists, much more complimentary, easier to please and happier to amuse themselves.

We had a girl first and then 2 boys..and I can honestly say they are all gorgeous but my little boys just melt my heart!
They are playful, fun, snuggly and try to act all tough!
They are just plain cute without trying to be anything but themselves...

I feel a lot less pressure being a mum to my boys compared to my little miss. I feel like I'm the biggest role model for my little girl, but for the boys it's different.

Do you sew, or have someone in the family who likes to make things? Boys often get short changed when it comes to cute sewing and crafty things for little ones, there is soooo much around for girls. One mother has set up a special "celebrate the boy" project on her blog and she catalogues cute boy stuff, clothes, accessories, toys etc. All handmade and all for boys. There is so much cute stuff there. If you feel like getting creative it may be a worth a look? (Google "celebrate the boy" or "dana made" or "made by rae")

When I feel pregnant the first time around I secretly wanted a little girl. I had my wonderful boy instead :) This time I wanted another boy because I think DS is such a cool little dude. As it turns out, I am having a girl, but I am totally happy with that too. It was just interesting to see how I went from wanting a girl to being happy with only have boys! They are so affectionate and heaps of fun to play with!
